Job Title: Kitchen Staff

General Description:
Assists in all areas of kitchen operations and meal service. Reports to the Outdoor Program Manager.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Assists in all areas of kitchen operations; i.e.: pack out, preparation, serving, cooking, clearing, and dishwashing, as needed.
- Helps open and close kitchen.
- Helps in menu planning and purchasing as needed.
- Helps to provide ample, well-balanced meals for campers and staff as directed.
- Helps to maintain the kitchen, eating areas, and Lodge in an efficient and organized manner.
- Maintains a clean kitchen at all times.
- Reports all accidents and illnesses promptly.
- Follow and maintain all safety and cleaning protocols, including sanitation schedules, safety guidelines and procedures for all camp facilities.
- Ability to lead and appropriately direct/correct others to follow established safety and cleaning protocols.
- Adheres to health and safety standards as set by the county of Riverside.
- Demonstrate and promote a climate of courtesy and professionalism to coworkers, campers, volunteers, parents, and others.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
- Adhere to all council employee policies and procedures.
- Maintain the standards of the American Camp Association and local and state agencies.

Minimum Experience required:
- Must be 18 years of age or 17 and graduated from High School.
- Previous kitchen or food preparation is a plus.
Skills Required:
- Ability to manage time effectively and handle several projects at the same time.
- Ability to keep supervisor informed and aware of activities and/or problems with area of work.
- Ability to work within established procedures and to recognize the important responsibilities of the position.
- Must be able to comprehend and practice all safety protocols and cleanings schedules for all Council and camp facilities.
- Demonstrate a demeanor that enables instruction and appropriate correction of behaviors and practices that expose others to safety threats or immediate harm.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and physically meet the demands of camp life.
- Ability to provide for the health and safety of campers and staff.
- Ability to work with adults and children regardless of age, race, disability, religion, ethic, or socioeconomic background.
- Possess a positive attitude and be flexible, responsible, patient and enthusiastic.
Minimum License, Certifications & Affiliations/Memberships and CEU's
- Must successfully complete a criminal history background check.
- Maintain throughout employment a valid CA driver's license and insured vehicle in good working order.
- Ability to obtain a Food Handlers Permit.
