Senior Proposal Manager, Energy, Environment, and Infrastructure

What we are looking for:
We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced, and capable Senior Proposal Manager, experienced in the types of requests for proposal (RFPs) typically received from state and local organizations, and who is genuinely passionate about strategy and positioning us to win. This individual will mentor a team of proposal managers and coordinators, add to our cohesive team dynamic, develop strategic/compelling proposals, and coach winning orals/interviews.
You will have strong people management, communication, and facilitation skills, proficiency in writing and editing, excellent attention to detail, organizational and planning skills, and the ability to take direction and identify priorities. You will demonstrate a professional demeanor, flexible attitude, and an enthusiasm for producing highly strategic and thoughtful work within a complex business environment.
What you will be doing:
- Manage, mentor, and train a team of proposal managers and coordinators.
- Help develop learning plans and lead onboarding process for proposal team members.
- Manage and project workload of proposal team, working with business development team leadership to ensure support for priority pursuits.
- Develop content for and facilitate ad hoc proposal process training as needed.
- Lead the preparation, management, and administration of the organization's customer RFP responses, including the coordination of effort with all involved parties.
- Review and understand all proposal requirements to ensure appropriate subject matter experts (SMEs) are involved to determine the best product and services fit to meet requirements; develop compliance documents, outline, and proposal template.
- Organize and lead cross-functional teams during kickoff meetings; development of proposal plan, compliance matrix, and schedule; monitor progress; and ensure all deadlines are met.
- Establish and delegate writing assignments and ensure all written materials reflect key messages identified during solutioning/outlining and are compelling and persuasive.
- Lead strategy and solutioning sessions to determine the best product and services fit to meet RFP requirements and offer advice to help identify and articulate key messages, discriminators, benefits, and proof statements.
- Draft initial content for certain proposal sections (e.g., cover letter, executive summary, qualifications, staffing).
- Coordinate Requests for Information with teaming partners/subconsultants and Diversity Goal Plans.
- Implore creative thinking (e.g., how we can continue to improve our responses through templates, etc.).
- Review proposal response to validate accuracy, ensure adherence to company policy (through coordination with contracts, pricing, and other corporate functions), satisfaction of customer specifications, and quality of material sent to customers. Determine gaps in the response, ensuring all questions or comments in the document are addressed.
- Brief proposal team on proposal status and ensure team adheres to internal deadlines; document and update processes and procedures to ensure consistency of approach.
- Provide overall guidance to proposal teams on best practices and leverage existing tools from within the company to develop relevant proposal sections.
- Develop and manage the schedule for and lead all color reviews and other required team touch points including recovery of proposal after reviews and final compliance, messaging, and continuity between technical, management, and cost volumes or sections.
- Monitor development of the business/pricing proposal to ensure adequate timing to progress.
- Work with proposal writers and graphics design team to create graphics and visuals that simply convey complex ideas, processes, or information.
- Ensure ongoing communication and collaboration with contracts, pricing leads, ad-hoc services (formatting, editing), etc. to keep all proposal components and deliverables on schedule.
- Lead orals preparation process, including development of any client facing materials; schedule practice sessions and provide coaching to team leveraging presentation best practices.
- Participate in ad hoc working groups, e.g., process improvements and tool updates.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Communications, Business, Marketing or English).
- 7+ years of experience managing the entire proposal process.
- 1+ years of experience managing people and teams
- Experience and understanding of the color review process, i.e., Shipley.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, Outlook, and Teams), Adobe Acrobat, and SharePoint.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Experience managing and working with large proposal teams, including all levels of internal staff, as well as outside teaming partners
- Ability to manage proposals for clients across the US (regardless of time zone).
- Ability to write original text, e.g., cover letters, executive summaries, corporate and team qualifications, introductions to technical sections.
- Familiarity with online collaboration platforms, i.e., SharePoint, Teams, Mural.
- Basic knowledge of Adobe graphics applications, i.e., Illustrator, InDesign.
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
- Experience working in a fast-paced, client-oriented environment
- Ability to work to meet deadlines (nights, weekends, and holidays, if needed)

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:
$112,513.00 - $191,273.00Nationwide Remote Office (US99)
