Summary:
Our award-winning client seeks a Director of Environmental Health and Safety to join their team. As the Director of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Onsite, you will provide full-time leadership to support all operations of our U.S. Facilities. From small arms manufacturing to tactical training, retail, optics, and ammunition manufacturing, your role will ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, and radioactive material regulations. Reporting to the Service Desk Manager, you will also be directly responsible for workers’ compensation programs and insurance across all U.S. Facilities
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership for various EHS initiatives, maintaining the client's proactive industry leader reputation.
- Ensure continuous improvement of EHS performance while complying with all regulations.
- Chair internal and external teams/committees, contributing to EHS-related missions, policies, and programs.
- Act as a liaison to external entities including EHS federal, state, and local agencies, customers, suppliers, and government entities.
- Develop EHS programs and policies for small arms, ammunition manufacturing, etc., complying with EPA, OSHA, and state regulations.
- Offer technical expertise, leadership, and support for all locations and departments on regulatory compliance in EHS.
- Mentor the EHS team to ensure success, standardizing protocols, procedures, and recordkeeping.
- Provide insights on new acquisitions, processes, and equipment before purchasing or implementing.
- Audit EHS programs and policies periodically, tracking effectiveness.
- Review incident data to determine root causes and ensure corrective actions eliminate them.
- Oversee internal and regulatory reporting data collection and maintenance.
- Act as the primary contact for regulatory agency inspections, audits, permitting, and reporting.
- Stay updated on applicable EHS regulatory updates and changes.
- Administer the workers’ compensation program, providing status updates to upper management.
- Ensure proper management of the in-house emergency medical response team.
- Act as the corporate Radiation Safety Officer, ensuring compliance with NRC and State Radioactive Materials program regulations.
- Review and ensure compliance with State and NRC radioactive materials licenses.
- Coordinate hazardous waste management in compliance with RCRA and DOT regulations.
- Act as the Emergency Coordinator for fire, smoke, spill, and medical incidents.
- Serve as the EHS point of contact for the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) for all contracts.
- Coordinate annual industrial hygiene monitoring and evaluate the effectiveness of personal protective equipment.
- Manage EHS training programs and recordkeeping.
- Track costs associated with EHS implementation and monitor pricing for cost-effective solutions.
- Implement environmental management plans as required.
- Lead the collection of data for proper authoring of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) by OSHA requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's in Environmental Health & Safety, Safety Engineering, or equivalent.
- 10 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree or 8 years with a Master's degree.
- Must have experience with explosives/munitions in a manufacturing company.
- Must currently be working at the Director Level.
