Nordic Naturals, a leader in the Omega-3 Fish Oils industry, is seeking a highly motivated Environment, Safety, and Health (ESH) Supervisor to oversee and manage safety, health, and environmental compliance at our manufacturing plant in Vista, CA. The ESH Supervisor will play a vital role in ensuring the safety of our employees, compliance with environmental and safety regulations, and promoting a culture mindset of health and safety throughout the plant and Warehouse.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, California State and other regulatory agencies relevant to a supplement manufacturing environment.
- Lead safety audits and inspections and GEMBA walks to identify hazards, assess risks, and ensure all safety protocols are being followed throughout the plant.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents, conducting root cause analyses and implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to avoid recurrence.
- Elaborate and Coordinate employee training programs on safety protocols, emergency procedures, hazardous material handling, and environmental health standards.
- Promote a culture of health and safety by engaging with employees, fostering a proactive approach to safety practices, and leading safety awareness initiatives.
- Ensure environmental compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including proper handling of hazardous materials and waste management procedures.
- Develop and maintain safety metrics to monitor performance, and prepare reports for management on safety trends, environmental compliance, and incidents.
- Supervise and coordinate emergency response planning, including fire safety, chemical spills, and evacuation drills.
- Conduct risk assessments for all processes and equipment, identifying potential hazards and ensuring that necessary safeguards are in place.
- Work closely with operations, maintenance, and quality teams to ensure that safety and environmental protocols are integrated into manufacturing processes and that employee safety is a priority.
- Manage regulatory documentation and reporting, ensuring that all permits, safety data sheets (SDS), and safety-related records are up-to-date and properly filed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in an ESH role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, Cal/OSHA, and other relevant regulations and standards.
- Experience in conducting safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
- At least one of the three certification of: OSHA 30-hour, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) .
- Additional certification desirable: ISO 31000 - Risk MGMT, ISO45001 : Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems COSS - Certified Occupational Safety Specialist
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively train employees and lead safety initiatives.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and experience in root cause analysis and incident investigations.
- Proficiency in developing safety metrics, preparing reports, and maintaining regulatory compliance documentation.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and influence safety practices across departments.
Pay, Benefits & Perks:The estimated annual pay for this role is $75,000 to $100,000. This pay is an estimate and the exact compensation may vary depending on an applicant's location, skills, prior experience, professional qualifications, and other relevant factors. Additional compensation may also include incentive compensation (i.e. bonus or commission) if applicable.
