Job Description
Reporting directly to lab director Dr. Jay Golden, Director of the Dynamic Sustainability Lab at Syracuse University and the Pontarelli Professor of Environmental Sustainability and Finance, this position will take the lead on analyzing and developing market pull strategies to expand the climate smart commodities marketplace. This includes, fuels, energy, chemicals, packaging, building materials and consumer products. The postdoctoral researcher will be working with growers and customer buyers in identifying market barriers and the implementation of programs that remove business barriers and develop Climate SMART commodity markets both domestically and for foreign exports. Programs can include but are not limited to policies, incentives, purchasing programs and marketing strategies that focus on the economic, job, and environmental benefits of climate smart commodities. The position will also supervise both undergraduate and graduate students assigned to the project. The successful candidate will also be expected to be part of a team in the development of general interest and technical reports and articles.
Responsibilities
Research Analyzes and collects data regarding barriers to broad market deployment and market pull of climate smart commodities Acquires climate smart commodities data Analyzes industry and government data sets Delivers on-going written reports to the Director of the Dynamic Sustainability Lab on the progress of the research Supporting Database Development Develops data visualizations in Microsoft PowerBi or Tableau Compiles the data to support the development of a national database Support the on-going maintenance and updates for the Database Leadership Guides and instructs student researchers on research approaches and methodologies specific to Climate Smart Commodities research Reviews progress of assigned student researchers Participates in specified workshops and/or conferences hosted by the Dynamic Sustainability Lab Develop and Contribute to Technical Reports Develops technical reports for technical and general audiences on the utility of the climate smart commodities database and website Contributes to broader project team technical reports on topic specific areas related to climate smart commodities Contributes technical information for project team social media campaigns # HEJ
Qualifications
A doctoral degree in environmental engineering, environmental sciences, environmental policy, supply chain or related discipline is required.
