Summary of Position: Reporting directly to the Manager, Environment and Regulatory Affairs this position is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of the environmental programs, and assisting in the planning activities at the mine.
Duties/ Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Assists in the planning and implementation of reclamation programs and water management, including assisting in the supervision of contractors;
• Assists in the maintenance of monitoring equipment (weather stations, air samplers, etc.) in compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements;
•Plans the movement of topsoil and subsoil and maintains records of reclamation activities;
•Prepares routine monthly and annual reports in compliance with government and company regulations;
•Conducts routine monitoring in compliance with air, water and reclamation permit requirements; ensuring quality control in the sampling (analysis and equipment) program;
•Works with industry, academia and consultants on numerous environmental projects (reforestation, land farming, wetland development);
•Conducts regular environmental audits and maintains environmental monitoring and report records;
•Monitors Federal and Provincial Environmental Regulations and ensures the mine site remains in compliance;
•Enters the equipment production information into the corporate production database; and
•Assumes other duties and responsibilities, as required, in response to changing circumstances, and the physical and economic environment of the Mine and the Company.
Qualifications:
•Technical college graduate with a minimum of 5 years of related experience in the field(s) of environmental, surveying, or technology. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
•Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
•Have the ability to learn quickly and maintain motivation
•Familiar with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Software.
