The Car Buyer is responsible for all activities relating to the purchasing of all non-private party vehicles for PnP. The car buyers will bid and purchase vehicles from outside vendors and work with tow vendors to get them delivered to the correct sites. They will work with the store to ensure proper payment for the newly purchased vehicles. They will work with vendors to ensure proper pricing, as well as, solicit new avenues for vehicle purchasing.
Essential Functions:
- Supply vehicles for all PnP facilities by bidding and purchasing vehicles from outside vendors.
- Review towing and car pricing to ensure they are correct.
- Review checks to vendors to ensure proper amounts.
- Search the internet and local business environments to recruit new tow vendors. Solicit new business from non-profit and outside fleet services by making local contacts and following up on potential leads.
- Act as a primary contact for local tow companies when the site needs to transfer vehicles from location to location.
- Responsible for relaying information regarding car market activity and local scrap prices to the Regional Purchasing Managers to make sure purchase prices are correct and inline with the outside market.
- Responsible for ensuring that car purchasing volumes are met.
- Build strong customer relationships with existing customers.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience purchasing cars. Through direct or indirect channels, is required.
- Must have a knowledge of vehicles type’s, make’s and approximate worth’s.
- A two year degree is preferred but not required
- Ability to operate a computer with exposure to outlook, internet applications
- Must be able to travel and drive long distances
- Must own your own vehicle and a valid drivers license
- Must carry insurance levels to meet to meet company guidelines
Physical Activities Required to Perform Essential Functions:
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit up for long periods of time.
- Manual dexterity to reach and handle items with hands and arms.
- Climb and balance, Ability to talk or hear; Peripheral and depth perception vision.
- Light to moderate physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a productive/technical nature.
Job Conditions:
Occasional exposure to an outdoor and indoor shop environment with adequate ventilation, Occasional exposure to the outdoor weather conditions. Exposure to moderate noise levels (example: business office environment with computers and printers, light traffic).
