Role Overview
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for providing the leadership and oversight required to provide safe and efficient execution of required contractor and maintenance team assignments at the facility. The Maintenance Supervisor works closely with Operations team leadership to identify, plan, and coordinate all necessary maintenance work activities. This position will directly contribute toward the development, implementation, adherence, and execution of all Predictive and Preventative Maintenance (PdPM) programs at the site. The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for actively managing costs within their control and ensuring the proper training, mentoring, and development of all team members.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
· Ensure maintenance team adherence to all company and site policies and procedures
· Manages the hourly attendance and payroll system for assigned team members
· Demonstrate effective control, leadership, and vision to maintenance team personnel
· Communicate and collaborate cross-functionally to assist site in resolving operational issues
· Provide allocation of work and supervision of both contractor and site maintenance resources
· Implement the weekly work order schedule by issuing work orders and preventative maintenance inspections to assigned resources
· Ensure site assets and manufacturing teams receive prompt, efficient and quality service from the maintenance department
· Collaborate with operations team to maintain and prioritize upcoming work orders, the required schedule, and resources required.
· Provide detailed competency in the use of and ensure proper utilization of Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
· Develop and manage the network of vendors/contractors necessary to support the site
· Develop solutions that improve equipment and process reliability
· Maintenance team cost management
· Maintain, update, execute, and track adherence to the site’s Preventative Maintenance programs
· Coordinate plant maintenance requirements with the Planner/Scheduler to ensure efficiency and the minimization of downtime and cost
· Keep the Maintenance Manager properly informed on all abnormal or critical situations and seeks advice on matters outside of the supervisor’s knowledge or authority
· Recommend additions to spare parts and materials inventory
· Assess the skills and abilities of assigned personnel and develop training opportunities to improve maintenance team capabilities
Basic Qualifications (Required)
· Associate’s degree in applicable curriculum and 5+ years industrial maintenance experience
· Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to deliver results and customer satisfaction
· Ability to create and drive change and effectively communicate to all levels in the organization
· Effective mentoring, facilitation, presentation, and team building skills
· Ability to work both strategically and hands-on
· Ability to lead a team-based approach to decision-making
· Thorough understanding of all site permitting processes
· Proficient in Microsoft suite applications
· Possess a thorough understanding of planning and scheduling practices
· Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) standard and applicability to maintenance programs
· In depth knowledge of the manufacturing equipment, processes, tools, and materials
· Advanced skills in computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
· Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills
· Must be highly organized and able to adapt to constantly changing demands and priorities
· Ability to, on a non-routine basis, work weekends, holidays and respond to emergency callouts
· Ability to qualify and safely operate equipment such as fork-lifts and elevated work platforms
Preferred Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree in applicable curriculum
· Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional (CMRP) or equivalent
· 10+ years industrial maintenance experience
· Industrial maintenance supervisory experience
· Electrical and mechanical maintenance work experience
· Plastic manufacturing or recycling work experience
· Understanding of PLC programming
