We are looking for a hard-working, reliable and safety minded individual with great Mechanic ability to join our team. The Mechanic will repair trailers and stationery and mobile equipment. Must be positive, punctual, and professional at all times. This position will work inside and outside in varying weather conditions, and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
Job Duties
Including, but not limited to:
• Trouble shoot problems with machinery
• Repair engines, engine-cooling systems, drivetrain parts, brake systems, and basic electrical parts
• Remove and replace parts of hydraulic systems and tool attachments (shears, forklifts, grapples)
• Remove and repair some body parts, ladders, platforms, catwalks, and engine covers
• Perform limited torch cutting and welding
• Cleanup work area at the end of shift
• Keep work areas neat and orderly
- Regular attendance and punctuality are essential job functions.
• Organizing materials to have more effective use of space
• Dispose of various waste materials in the appropriate manner
• Inspection to ensure cleanup is completed
• Effective housekeeping in workplace area is an ongoing operation for safety and better hygienic conditions for all team members.
Qualifications
• Employees in this position prior to April 2014 are presumed to be qualified and are "grandfathered" into their positions.
• Must pass a medical physical and drug test
• Must pass a background check
• Preferred – high school diploma or GED and/or foreign education acceptable
• Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus
• Ability to: communicate with others effectively; understand direction (written or oral) and use basic math skills as the job demands
• Diesel Mechanic school or certification preferred DOT Certifications
• Previous experience hydraulic repairs a plus
• Forklift experience

• Work Environment: Scrap yard, large equipment metal processing area
• Equipment & Tools: Yard equipment, electrical Safety equipment, hand tools, and PPE specialized for electricians.
