Mission
We are looking for an Environmental Specialist to join the Safety, Health and Environment Section (HSE) of Zelestra's Technical Management office of an important project under execution in Chile (Pozo Almonte, Tarapacá Region). The primary mission of this role will be to deliver high standard services to the project, tailored to its environmental needs, following the corporate guidelines and national regulations.
Responsibilities
- Manage the environmental area of the project.
- Advise on the choice of the PIMAS Management Tools to be applied in the project.
- Prepares the PIMAS and associated programs with the support of the Project Manager.
- Control compliance with the legal and regulatory provisions in force, the project's internal regulations and work procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all the technical and administrative conditions detailed in the Environmental Impact Statement, as well as monitoring the implementation and compliance with the Environmental Monitoring Program.
- Identify deviations from the PIMAS during the development of the project, by carrying out inspections of the tasks, the correct application of the procedures and monitoring of corrective measures for possible incidents.
- Conduct environmental training (waste management, flora, local vegetation and flora and its care, hunting law) for new personnel.
- Management of waste generated on site.
- Keep records of consumption (water, fuel) and waste generated, as well as filing and control of the documentation associated with their removal.
- Prepare and share the environmental indicators and all the information requested for the project, with the Project Manager and the Head of Safety, Health, Environment and CSR.
- Prepare non-conformity reports, deliver and communicate them to the parties involved, including contractors, Site Manager and Project Manager.
- Plan and carry out emergency drill and prepares the corresponding reports.
- In the event of an environmental emergency, prepares an emergency report and notifies the administration, Site Manager and the Head of Safety, Health, Environment and CSR.
- Prepare monthly site reports and/or audits.
- Execute the MA budget.
Requirements
- Environmental Engineering or similar degree.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as an Environmental Engineer in construction (similar functions to those described).
- Knowledge in Labour, Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Legislation in Chile.
- Medium level of English and Spanish.
- Microsoft Office (medium)
