It's that wonderful time of year again when our Public Events department begins to gear up in anticipation of ZooBoo and Christmas at the Zoo (CATZ)! We are currently seeking part-time Public Events Assistants to assist our Public Events team with event setup, decorating, vendor coordination, and administrative tasks. This is the perfect opportunity for a currently enrolled student or recent alumni wanting to gain real world experience in the marketing/ event industry.
Ideal candidates are committed to advancing the Zoo's mission to protect nature and inspire people to care for our world. Successful candidates will have a polished, professional image, a very outgoing personality, and a drive to assist with all things ZooBoo and CATZ. Some experience in marketing, events, or the hospitality field is preferred but not required. This position will begin September 4, 2024 through January 17, 2025, and will typically work 20-29 hours per week. This position requires a flexible schedule as weekends, holidays, and evening hours apply. The pay rate for this exciting opportunity is $13.00/ hr.
Responsibilities and working conditions include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinates and follow-ups with vendors.
- Works closely with all Zoo departments to successfully implement events.
- Assists with event coordination, event set-up, event activity and post event activity.
- Indiana Driver's License (or ability to obtain one), and a driving record that is deemed insurable by the Zoo's insurance carrier.
- Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills are required.
- Extremely organized, deadline and detail driven, and maintain the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook, and intermediate knowledge of Excel.
