Position Title:Sr. System Performance Analyst

Position Summary:
Sr. System Performance Analyst is part of the engineering team responsible to conduct in-depth analysis of performance data from battery storage systems. This role intersects battery energy storage systems (BESS), engineering, and data analytics.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze the performance of BESS, including downtime analysis, identifying under-performing areas and sub-systems, understanding system behavior, and directing improvements and updates to enhance system availability and capacity.
- Evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) such as BESS Storage Availability, Charge/Discharge Energy, RTE, and SoC. Prepare and present reports (dashboards and presentations) for internal and external stakeholders.
- Calculate major equipment unavailability and LDs. Communicate and reconcile these with suppliers and owners.
- Review monthly performance reports from subcontractors for accuracy and prepare client-facing performance reports.
- Develop tools and automation (e.g., scripts, Python code) to collect and process data, guide system operation and maintenance (O&M), and monitor BESS plant performance, including real-time flagging of underperforming assets.
- Perform modeling and simulations of battery degradation due to aging and cycling to establish warranty terms and predict augmentation schedules. Utilize industry-standard and customized programs and maintain and upgrade these programs to stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Interface with Engineering, Service, Project Execution teams, subcontractors, and clients.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Science or Engineering degree or equivalent.
- Familiarity with BESS, solar energy, or power systems.
- Proficiency in Python programming, Jupyter notebook environment, and SQL.
- Knowledge of AWS cloud is a plus.
- Strong computer skills and in-depth familiarity with big data analysis.
- Problem-solving ability, critical thinking, and creative thinking skills.
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write clear, concise reports.
- Strong work ethic, positive team attitude, and the ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
