Background
An EIS temperature-based model for a traction battery, simulating how the battery's temperature changes during various operating conditions is important for thermal management. A simplified outline of a temperature model for a traction battery can be represented by:
• Thermal equations to describe how the temperature change
• The geometry and physical characteristics of the battery pack
• External factors that influence battery temperature
• The heat transfer within the battery pack and to the surrounding environment
• Properties of the battery materials, such as thermal conductivity, specific heat capacity, and thermal resistance
• The different operating modes that affect the battery temperature, charging, driving etc.
Scope Objective:
• Investigate the benefits of an EIS temp model vs today’s model
Activities:
• Literature review on different model and implementation strategies suitable for automotive traction battery
• Implement and compare the results in terms of accuracy EIS model vs. todays model
• Final report which describes findings and model design
