TITLE: BATTERY TECHNICIAN IV
LOCATION: PHOENIX, AZ
POSITION SUMMARY A DC Power Technician is responsible for startups, certifications, preventative maintenance, and scheduled maintenance for battery systems related to Uninterruptable Power Supply systems.

- Experienced and able to perform battery replacements and new installations.
- Experienced and able to perform preventative maintenance, trouble diagnosis, routine and emergency repairs of all types of battery systems without supervision and with minimal disruption to customer.
- Perform battery cabinet change outs, load bank testing, flooded cell system installations, spill containment system installations, lead multiple string and discipline projects.
- Install, trouble diagnose, repair, start-up, and commission, all types of battery monitoring systems.
- Ability to lead jobs with multiple crew members of various skill levels.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with general contractors, sub-contractors, partners, and clients to complete projects on schedule and within budget.
- Without supervision properly operate all equipment including but not limited to:
- All battery related measuring devices.
- All battery related heavy equipment moving and lifting devices.
- All battery maintenance related tools and programs for proper reporting.
- Have excellent written and oral communication skills with co-workers, sales teams, engineering partners, management teams, and clients.
- Be able to accurately assess human power requirements for maintenance and installation services.
- Be able to estimate consumables and connectivity parts for project completion.
- Be able to recognize when crew productivity and safety are jeopardized due to duration of efforts or extreme conditions service crew members are being exposed to.
- Exercise leadership and good judgement resulting in healthy, harmonious, productive, and, happy team performance.
- Exhibit characteristics that foster great team moral, and spirit of co-operation on job sites and operations center.
- Show ability to balance multiple needs and challenges from a multitude of directions.
- Be able to teach learned skills, techniques, strategies, and methods to the next generation.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
- Other duties as assigned by Services Management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma & 7years battery service experience, 10 preferred
- Clean driving records a must
- Safe operation of department equipment
- Elementary fix/repair techniques based on directed supervision
- Knowledge of or ability to learn basic AC/DC theory, electronic components, and electronic circuitry
- Complete training on:
- Use of Digital multimeter for AC and DC diagnostic measurements
- Use of Amp Clamp and flexible CT in DC and AC measures
- Use of Alber Cellcorder for use as a battery testing and maintenance tool for a multitude of various battery designs and chemistries
- Show understanding of proper use of:
- Isolation devices to control available voltage potentials.
- Necessary use of Arc-Flash suit and PPE.
- Show competency in the connections of series, parallel, and series-parallel battery strings.
- Understand torque values, torque-mark application, and visual inspection of completed battery cabinet installations.
Computer Skills:
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office including: Word, Excel.
Certificates and Licenses:
- OSHA 10-hour certification
- NFPA-70E Safety Training
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- No direct supervisory responsibilities, but team lead and mentor to lower level Technicians.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; Standing and walking is required. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee must lift and carry up to 50 – 70 pounds. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds.
