Position Overview
This position as part of the Test Engineering organization will provide comprehensive engineering support to Proterra’s Battery Engineering team and Proterra Technology Lab. You will be responsible for full product design, from concept to test readiness, of new fixtures and equipment used for performing safety, reliability, and performance tests on high voltage battery packs and sub-systems.
About the Role – You will:
- Develop electro-mechanical equipment, systems, and fixtures that are used to test next generation high-voltage battery packs
- Design complex parts and assemblies in 3D CAD software
- Oversee fabrication and build of custom fixtures and equipment
- Provide clear and concise documentation related to test equipment, including build, wire schematics, troubleshooting, repair, and operating procedure
- Troubleshoot and debug issues with new and existing test equipment
- Work with test and design engineers to develop requirements for new hardware and software interfaces
- Work with test engineers and technician to build, setup, and operate test fixtures
- Work with facilities to oversee installation of new infrastructure required for test equipment
- Integrate fixtures with sensors, actuators, data acquisition, control systems, and control logic
- Prioritize and complete tasks to meet deadlines.
- Interact with a wide variety of individuals and teams to communicate results.
- Create work instructions and best practices for other engineers and technicians to follow.
- Play a key role in identifying and initiating ways to improve the overall environment of the Proterra Technology Lab, team, and processes

Your Experience Includes:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of design and/or testing experience in the automotive, HV battery, or transportation industries. Understanding of high voltage battery systems or powertrains is a plus.
- Experience with 3D CAD software and 2D drawings for mechanical and electrical systems
- Familiarity with data acquisition systems, digital and analog interfaces for PCs, test systems, etc.
- Experience with scripting languages and basic state-machine logic
- Experience in an R&D testing or product development environment.
- Experience with test instrumentation (i.e., temperature, flow, pressure, current, voltage).
- Experience with testing electro-mechanical systems and electronic circuit components.

Compensation:$102,600 - $125,400/yr
