Job Purpose
Reporting to the Sr. Operations Manager (SOM), the Assistant Operations Manager (AOM) will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient and safe completion of all operational duties and responsibilities for the wind facility. Work location is in Truscott, Texas working on the El Campo site.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all Operations and Maintenance activities for a wind power generating facility, including but not limited to substation & high-voltage work, collection system equipment, balance of plant activities and wind turbine generator (WTG) units.
- Perform routine inspections, document findings, and manage any repairs to maintain equipment at the highest possible standards, maximizing availability, reliability, efficiency, and profitability.
- Conduct oneself professionally and lead by example to ensure compliance with all Longroad processes, procedures and policies while maintaining standards of the corporate code of conduct.
- Foster effective communication with all members of the team and/or subcontractors as required.
- Provide oversight of safe and reliable wind farm operations, site personnel, and contractors.
- Uphold compliance with all EHS plans and regulatory standards to cultivate and ensure a strong on-site safety culture including administration, application and monitoring of safety programs. This includes the safety requirements for all contractors, subcontractors, owner’s personnel and any other visitors.
- Demonstrate adherence to established procedures in all site operation and maintenance activities by following established procedures. In the event that a procedure does not exist, work to draft a procedure.
- Collaborate with Asset Management to operate the site within the approved budget.
- Develop cost effective programs to enhance operations and maintenance.
- Manage site contracts and warranties in alignment with Longroad’s standards and interests.
- Engage with local utilities, regulatory agencies, local government/community members and landowners.
- Ensures compliance with all local, state and federal regulations in all concerns, including but not limited to; environmental, ERCOT, NERC/FERC, local laws and regulations.
- Responsible for site inventory accountability and replenishment.
- Demonstrate strong work planning skills, activity scheduling and follow up to ensure work compliance.
- Complete projects assigned by SOM or others.
- Travel as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in operations and maintenance of a wind or energy facility.
- 1 year of supervisory experience.
- Budget / Project Management experience.
- Strong communication skills.
- Contract execution experience.
- Government regulation compliance experience.
- Organized, leadership skills.
- Proficient computer and software skills, with an emphasis on MS Excel.
- Comfortable working at heights and the ability to perform essential physical functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation; this includes climbing 300’ wind turbines, lifting 50 lbs. above head, and meeting the weight requirement of safety gear, 310 lbs. or less.
- Valid driver’s license.
- 24/7 on-call availability.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in related fields preferred such as electrical, renewables, power or utilities.
- Knowledge of NERC standards.
- Competent in executing and directing substation switching.
- Competent in inspecting MV / HV Electrical Equipment.
