GE Vernova’s Advanced Research Center is the central innovation engine for GE’s energy businesses, unified under GE Vernova. With over 300 researchers across various disciplines, we are driving initiatives to decarbonize power, accelerate renewables, and promote electrification for a zero-carbon future.
We are seeking an experienced Controls and Digital Technologies Analyst with expertise in control systems engineering, digital signal processing, embedded systems, and machine learning. Additional knowledge in IP law, regulatory compliance, and renewable energy technologies is beneficial. This role is crucial in guiding technical and IP strategies, supporting innovation, and protecting IP, all aligned with GE Vernova’s Energy Transition mission.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with technical leaders and stakeholders across GE Vernova to drive innovation and formulate technical/IP strategies.
• Develop monetization strategies for GEV technologies with commercialization potential.
• Analyze technology, IP, and business information to support the development and commercialization of controls and digital technologies in the energy industry.
• Empower GE Vernova to develop new technologies, devise IP strategies, and commercialize technologies through various channels.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Drive innovation, technical/IP strategy by collaborating with researchers.
- Collaborate with leadership across GE Vernova businesses and technology teams to develop/refine R&D strategy.
- Analyze technical aspects of patent applications and existing patents in electrical engineering.
- Conduct prior art, patentability, infringement, and freedom-to-operate analyses.
- Develop patent landscapes and assess emerging technologies using analytics tools.
- Provide insights on patent trends, white spaces, and early risk identification.
- Work with technologists and licensing leaders to evaluate GE Vernova technologies, market needs, and commercialization scenarios.
- Identify licensing opportunities, value IP assets, and conduct due diligence on potential licensees.
- Collaborate with patent attorneys, licensing professionals, technologists, and business development teams.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Controls Engineering, Digital Technologies, or related fields.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in technology R&D, IP or licensing analysis focused on controls engineering or digital technologies or Phd in relevant technology domains from a premier institute.
- Strong research and analytical skills with a passion for technology and business acumen.
Desired Characteristics
- Experience in R&D or technology development or licensing in areas related to control systems engineering, digital signal processing, embedded systems, and machine learning.
- Experience in technology commercialization and licensing analytics.
- Knowledge of patent law and intellectual property analysis.
- Basic understanding of financial/accounting concepts and market analysis.
- Proficiency in Excel programming, Python, and use of AI/ML tools is a plus.
- Excellent articulation and communication skills.
