DescriptionThe project developer supports all development and construction activities associated with new generation projects. Supports project budget updates, oversight of contractors and consultants that support site development and construction activities, administers the associated contracts, ensures site compliance with environmental and other permits, regulatory requirements, safety requirements, and quality of the development and construction. This position maintains key business, public and stakeholder relationships and includes interaction with landowners, county employees, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders and coordinates with other department to complete development and construction tasks. The position supports various calculations, reports, analyses, document control and other activities needed to complete due diligence, development and construction activities.
Responsibilities
- Support activities for self-developed projects as well as due diligence efforts and oversight of progress for projects purchased from developers.
- Development activities include site evaluation, land acquisition, title policy coverage, environmental studies, obtaining interconnection rights, completing renewable resource and energy assessments, and supporting and securing local, state and federal permits as required.
- Oversee site construction activities including contractor performance relative to schedule, quality, safety and compliance.
- Perform various calculations and analysis supporting the development and construction of new wind generation projects.
- Perform activities supporting contract negotiation efforts for asset purchase agreement contracts, balance of plant contracts, and major equipment procurement contracts.
- Monitor and report on performance related to safety, compliance, budget, schedule and quality for all site development and construction activity.
- Participate in meetings with developers, consultants, contractors, inspectors, landowners and other stakeholders in site development and construction activities.
- Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, physical sciences, math, finance, accounting or related field or equivalent work experience. (6 years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
- Willingness to travel to various sites; approximately 50% of job duties will be performed at development or construction sites.
- 4 or more years of operations, construction, development or renewable industry related experience; with 1 year in a senior technical/leadership role preferred.
