Solar Installer

Shift Energy Group is seeking a Solar Installer to join our Field Crew in Halifax, NS. This position is a full-time permanent position. The Solar installer will install solar racking and modules to connect residential and commercial solar PV systems. On-the-job training will be provided.

Responsibilities:
- Assemble solar modules, panels, or support structures as specified by system designers.
- Assemble rooftop equipment and properly seal all roof penetrations.
- Perform trenching, concrete work and equipment assembly as required.
- Interface with Crew Lead and Field Manager to ensure compliance with system design and necessary codes
- Provide an exceptional customer experience to all customers throughout the process.
- Work primarily with others on a crew of 3
Safety is a primary focus at Shift, and every team member is responsible for ensuring safe work practices.
Working Conditions:
- Outdoor field work occurs in adverse weather conditions and has a normal hazard associated with construction sites.
- This position requires climbing, working at heights, and/or working within confined spaces.
- This position requires the ability to safely handle tools and materials such as ladders, inverters, solar panels, panel boards, and other similar electrical equipment, lumber, roofing materials, etc.
- This position requires performing repetitious duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
- This position requires working on rooftops of different heights, pitches, and slopes, each with its unique challenges.
- This position involves regular travel throughout Nova Scotia, and the candidate should be comfortable with occasional overnight stays and out-of-town projects.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of one year of experience installing solar panels or roofing in a residential/commercial setting.
- Previous Experience in roof work, general construction, or carpentry.
- A valid fall protection training certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hiring.
- A valid driver’s license and willingness to provide a driving abstract.
- Willing to provide Criminal record check.
- A positive attitude and ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment.
Skills:
- Comfortably work in an active construction environment and operate standard hand tools as needed to perform various roofing and installation tasks.
- Ability to follow all safety instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Ability to take on installation jobs on structures like residential homes or commercial buildings with different roof heights, slopes or conditions.
- Ability to Lift or maneuver materials weighing up to 50 pounds

Working Hours: 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am- 4:00 pm
