JOB SUMMARY: This position is located in the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Northwest Fisheries Science Center (NWFSC), with one vacancy in Manchester, WA. This is a term appointment not to exceed 10 years with possible extensions up to a total of 4 years without further competition. Appointment to this position will not convey permanent status in the Federal service. MAJOR DUTIES: As a Fish Biologist, the incumbent will: Implement captive broodstocks and reintroduction programs for recovery of ESA-listed Pacific salmon. Identify and validate significant problem areas requiring action while prioritizing assigned projects including project documentation, execution reporting, project tracking, project accounting, and technical support procurement. Review and maintain awareness of current knowledge and developments in artificial propagation of anadromous salmonids and specific requirements for ESA-listed (Endangered Species Act) species. Communicate scientific information to the scientific community through formal briefings, conferences, and participation on committees.
