ASSOCIATE TRANSPORTATION PLANNER
Job Description and Duties
Will consider Transportation Planner.
As a member of the Climate Change Branch, the incumbent will work under the direction of the Climate Change Branch Chief, and the Air Quality & Climate Change Office Chief on a mix of team-oriented and independent assignments. The incumbent will assist in: coordinating, implementing, and mainstreaming climate change activities across Caltrans and with interagency partners. The incumbent will support activities related to climate change mitigation, adaptation, sustainability, and research and analysis to support activities to enhance the resiliency of the state's multimodal transportation system.

For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. Desirable Qualifications
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
- Knowledge of transportation planning and climate change. Familiarity with multi-modal transportation and sustainable planning theory is preferred. The ability to analyze technical information and apply it in a variety of contexts, including for policy development and implementation, and for planning and transportation project delivery. The ability to execute project management skills to guide and complete projects, and should be able to communicate technical information clearly verbally and in writing.
