DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this role, you will support the District Environmental Supervisor for the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and/or the District Environmental Manager in securing environmental approvals for transportation initiatives by drafting the necessary environmental documentation. It is essential to possess a thorough understanding of environmental laws and regulations to ensure that the Department's design, construction, and maintenance operations adhere to local, state, and federal environmental standards.
You will be responsible for coordinating the creation and assessment of environmental documents, which encompass a range of complexities including categorical exclusions, technical reports, and mitigation plans, among others.
Additionally, you will be expected to cultivate and sustain a comprehensive understanding of environmental policies, procedures, and guidelines relevant to the field.
Your role will also involve assessing the potential impacts of transportation projects on various factors, including landforms, air quality, noise levels, water quality, water resources, existing ecological conditions, land use, recreational facilities, socio-economic resources, and cultural resources.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Hollidaysburg.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience as an Environmental Planner 1; or
- Five years of progressive professional experience in local, regional, or state environmental planning; or
- A Master's degree in planning or one of the environmental sciences and two years of progressive professional environmental planning experience; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
