Sandbox Solar. The name means a lot to us. Technically, solar panels are made of sand. And, back when we were kids, we were the ones who wanted to be outside playing in the sandbox, rather than being indoors playing video games. We’re still like that. Two of the things we value are “Living Life to the Fullest,” and “The Great Outdoors.” That should tell you something!
Our name means a lot in our community also. In the last year we’ve won many awards for our exponential growth, the quality work we do, and the people we employ. Those have come from Solar Power World, NoCO Style, Bizwest, nextdoor, Denver Business Journal, and the International Electrical Contractors. Fun fact–we have a Project Manager who was named the SuperStar Project Manager of the Year by the International Electrical Contractors Rocky Mountain (IECRM). Fun fact about the fun fact–we aren’t electrical contractors. In 2021, our founder, Ian Skor, had a goal of being known as the best solar company in Colorado within three years. We did it!
Ian also had a five year goal–for Sandbox Solar to be known as the best solar company in the nation. If you look at the exponential growth we’ve had, the trajectory we’re on, and the innovative things we do, you’d see why we believe that’s possible. But if you look at our leadership, our vision, our values, and our team, you’d see why we believe that’s probable! Ever heard of Agrivoltaics? Check out our partnership with the CSU Research Farm at sandboxsolar.com/project/csu-agrivoltaics-research-farm-sandbox-solar. We’re proud of taking solar into places others don’t know how to.
Our future is even more exciting. We’re leading the way in multiple community and commercial projects, including Solar Microgrids, Group Buying Solar Co-Ops, Agrivoltaic innovations, and of course, residential. With a mission to “Increase the deployment of solar energy in our community to promote energy independence and self-sufficiency,” we’re growing in terms of employee base, number, complexity, scope and size of projects, external recognition, and a lot of other things that mark a high-performing team. If this sounds like the kind of team you’d like to be part of, read on!
We have an entry level position for a Project Engineer. This position is ideal for a new graduate with a degree in Construction Management, because it will provide a multi-year path to become a Project Manager. And honestly, we want another SuperStar! This role will involve working in every part of our company, learning everything possible about estimating, permitting, design, installing, customer support, electrical, leadership, and management. We don’t have a defined timeline for promotion to Project Manager. It will be based on proficiency in each area of our operation.
Requirements Include:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, or a directly related field
- Successful completion of a Construction Management Internship in a related industry
- Strong and authoritative communication skills that instill confidence in team members, clients, vendors, and management
- The ability to inspire and influence others with or without line authority
- Organizational skills and the ability to manage time efficiently while being unphased by multiple tasks coming from multiple sources with potential conflicting priorities and deadlines
- A strong work ethic and commitment to quality
- A willingness to learn a new industry in a new way.
This won’t be the right opportunity for those who:
- Aren’t willing, able, and excited to get their hands dirty, learning all parts of our operation
- Lack initiative, drive, and a sense of urgency to be directly involved in Sandbox’s growth
- Avoid problems or want to be left alone and uninvolved
- Can’t make timely decisions
- Allow their ego to get in everyone else’s way
- Wing it - not thinking of the consequences of their actions on others.
We will be accepting applications through October 15, 2024 with a possible extension.
Expected salary for this position is $62,400 - $72,800 (or $30-$35 per hour).
