JOB SUMMARY
Perform corrective, emergency, and preventative mechanical maintenance throughout the plant in order to ensure safe and efficient working environments.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, The maintenance mechanic will be responsible for the safe and efficient day-to-day maintenance of a Biosolids Management facility to ensure safety and environmental compliance. Appreciate
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Be an active participant in Synagro’s Environmental Health and Safety program,
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment,
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and safely,
- Ability to detect, troubleshoot, and repair irregularities and malfunctions in production equipment,
- Perform preventative maintenance on plant equipment in accordance with standardized procedures and manuals,
- Ability to recognize operational inconsistencies and hazards in the workplace and display proper judgment in responding accordingly,
- Knowledge of PLC's and automated process equipment,
- Communicate with Managers on safety or process related issues,
- Equipment refurbishment (pumps & screw conveyors, blowers)
- Set and align rotating equipment,
- Cutting and rigging techniques,
- Welding-gas and electric,
- Electrical-motor connections, perform zero energy check with a multi meter,
- Pipefitting (Steel & CPVC)
- Maintain maintenance shop and all hand and power tools,
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES
- 5-10 years of experience in an industrial maintenance settings
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Knowledge of CMMS systems, excel, Microsoft Windows/Office,
- Millwright ticket is an asset
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Typically working hours will be Mon to Friday 7 to 3 with possibility to be scheduled on rotating days, including weekends based on processing rates and maintenance needs. Must be available to work additional hours, weekends, and emergency call ins.
- Appreciate, and thrive in a small team environment.
- A portion of your time will be required outdoors exposed to ambient conditions.
- Personal protective equipment, such as a hard hat, eye protection, hearing protection, respirators, FR coveralls, and safety boots are mandatory.
Environmental conditions may include; hot, cold, dirt, dust, wet or noise in an industrial setting.Subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to bio-solids.
The worker is subject to vibration: Exposure to oscillating movements of extremities or whole body.
The workers may be exposed to close quarters, crawl space, small, enclosed rooms, small sewage and water line pipes, and other areas which could cause claustrophobia.
