One of Terawatt's Core Values is "Electrify the Customer". Terawatt is looking for a Director of Hardware to help create the best EV charging solution in North America. This role is a key leadership position to set the strategy for Terawatt's EVSE hardware assets while choosing the right electrical layout to make our sites highly efficient.
In this role, you will provide leadership and participate in strategic EVSE hardware partner selection, EV <> EVSE <> CMS automated testing, and vehicle OEM interoperability testing. In addition, you will engage with utility partners and vendors to deliver site power efficiency solutions through existing and emerging technologies. Your passion for world-class EV charging hardware allows you to lead by example - live, breathe, and eat high-powered systems. Working with the SVP of Technology, you will lead a team of EVSE Validation Engineers, and over time, other hardware functions, engage with the broader software, data, and operations teams who will look to you as the technical leader for all things hardware.
This position is critical in leading the creation of a world-class charging experience for our fleet customers. The team's role is to ensure that Terawatt's selected charging systems operate with maximum uptime while delivering a seamless customer experience. Core Responsibilities:- Work with Development, Construction, Energy teams to understand electrical system design challenges and formulate solutions to incorporate new solutions to improve the efficiency of our sites
- Provide technical leadership to the Hardware team to qualify, monitor and build partnerships with EVSE Hardware vendors
- Build and execute strategies for interoperability for our different EVSE partners and the vehicles that will use our charging infrastructure
- Work with Field Service to help resolve complex hardware-related problems for Terawatt's fleet customers.
- Work with executive stakeholders and the product team to develop and integrate MCS into the company roadmap.
- Work on existing and upcoming standards engagements and compliance.
Preferred Qualifications:- Knowledge of DC Fast Charger products with 5+ years experience in the EV ecosystem and 10+ years overall hardware-related experience
- Demonstrable skills in technical strategy, and complex root cause analysis.
- Demonstrable ability to lead a team of hardware-focused engineers.
- Experience in dense electrical infrastructure, vehicle electrification, EV charging, clean energy, power grid development.
- Deep understanding of dispatchable on-site power generation, solid state transformers, substation relay and control and other aspects of power distribution systems.
- Electrical Engineering in Power Electronics background or similar demonstrable experience
- Knowledge of safety practices and procedures and EMI requirements related to high-power applications.

$180,000 - $215,000 a year
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. This salary range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, interview performance, and geographic location.
