Job Title: Intern (Part-time, Temporary)

Duration: About 15 hrs/week for 6 months from October to April (flexible schedule is possible)

Scope: The Connecticut Chapter has a staff team of 3 people, supporting a powerful volunteer base, and uplifting the voices of our 30,000 supporters across the state. Our office is in Hartford and interns should expect to work some in the office and out around the state. Many work hours will be spent at community events and volunteer meetings primarily in the evenings and weekends. Flexible schedule available to fit other work or school needs.
Movement building is a key part of how we will win the climate movement. We are looking for an Intern to increase our supporter base in key geographies. This position will focus on our campaign to Stop Project Maple, a proposal that would increase methane gas capacity and expand pipelines in our state. The Intern will work directly with our staff and volunteer teams and include assisting in public outreach, public education, organizing efforts, events, and data entry.
With the support and orientation by staff and volunteers, the intern will develop their own skills and expertise as an organizer. They will have the opportunity to work with seasoned campaign organizers and volunteers, and learn about climate and clean energy issues.

Job activities include but are not limited to:- Works with Sierra Club organizers and volunteers to build opposition to Project Maple methane gas pipeline expansion proposal
- Assists with the planning, note taking, and facilitating of volunteer meetings
- Assists with organizing educational meetings for impacted communities
- Assists with volunteer recruitment in impacted communities
- Assists in developing materials, presentations, social media posts, and general promotions
- Completes administrative tasks including data entry and updating spreadsheets, as needed

Compensation
The hourly rate for this position is $18 / hour.
This is a category 99, non-exempt, non-represented, temporary position.
