JOB SUMMARY: This position is a Fish and Wildlife Administrator, GS- 0480-14 working in Tulelake, California for the R8-Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuge Complex. MAJOR DUTIES: As a Fish and Wildlife Administrator(Project Leader) your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Formulates comprehensive conservation plans for the Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuge Complex, including recreation management, wildlife and habitat management, wetlands and water management, fire management, private lands technical assistance, and disease prevention and control. Develops refuge policy, and coordinates technical activities of the refuge programs with numerous Federal, State, and local government agencies, representatives of special interest groups (international, national, regional, and local) and, as appropriate, members of Congress and State Legislators. Conducts administrative operations that involve short-, medium-, and long-range planning associated with all refuge activities, fiscal requirements, personnel and property management, records management, public relations, and technical assistance to local, State and other Federal agencies. Represents the Service as a refuge management expert with elected and appointed Federal, state and local government officials and employees, the media, local and national level environmental and conservation groups, members of academia, Tribal representatives, corporate partners, and the general public on issues affecting natural resource management in the geographic area. Supervises a multifaceted team of professional, technical, analytical and administrative support staff, to include, but not limited to, planning work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting and adjusting short-term priorities, and preparing schedules for completion of work; assigns work to subordinates; evaluates work performance of subordinates; gives advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters; interviews candidates for positions in the unit; hears and resolves complaints from employees; effects minor disciplinary measures, such as warnings and reprimands; identifies developmental and training needs of employees, etc. IMPORTANT: Click the 'Apply for this job' button to view a complete job description.
