Position Title and Summary
The Septic Driver is responsible for safely driving to the jobs on the driver’s route for the day as well as observe all vehicle weight laws for local roads. This role has to empty septic tank by pumping out all liquid and solids using a vacuum hose and troubleshoot septic system problems as well as educate the customer on their systems in general. The Septic Driver offers additional products and services that would benefit the customer and offers promotional materials and information as needed. This role generates and maintains accurate and legible paperwork and hand in to the office at the end of the day.

Responsibilities
- Take and pass a state licensing exam for our industry
- Locate and perform preventative maintenance on septic tanks and systems
- Perform pre-determined inspection of each system while on site
- Offer education of system to customer via information packets and verbal communications
- Participate in an on-call rotation for taking care of emergencies after hours and week-ends
- Off-loading pre-treated septage into tractor spreader for land application according to State of IL procedure at site and supervisor direction
- Complete accurate paperwork and turn this into the office for processing on a daily basis.
- Give the best effort to the customer and the company every day to become an expert in the field
Qualifications / Knowledge / Critical Skills
- CDL-B license with no restrictions – must be proficient in manual transmission vehicles
- Air brakes and tanker endorsement will be ultimately needed
- Minimum 1 year driving experience or exceptional driving skills with work truck during test drive interview
- Availability to work until the jobs are done for the day due to the fact that many of our jobs are considered “emergency service” based.
- Saturday’s are mandatory when the season requires extra coverage
- On Call availability per the alternating schedule -- currently every 3-5 weeks’ rotation
- Be able to lift 50 lbs. consistently
- Physical ability to walk a minimum of 500-1000 feet at a time with varying slope and terrain including stairs
- Physical ability to be able to climb in/out of any vehicle in the fleet and be able to drive it when needed
- Physical ability to run a steel probe into the ground 4 feet deep 15-20 times to investigate drainfield problems
- Physical ability to hand dig a 30” diameter hole two feet deep using a shovel
- Neat, legible handwriting
- Strong organizational skills and communication skills
- Strong ability to “think on your feet”
- Tolerate full range of weather conditions

- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Some regional travel required
