The Pollination Projects Team is responsible for the origination of large-scale renewable energy projects that target hard-to-abate sectors. In addition to the energy sector, we have a specific focus on the production of low carbon chemicals and critical metals.
Pollination is looking for an Associate Director to join our Projects team, preferably in Melbourne.
The role
The Associate Director (AD) will focus on providing deep scientific insight on current and emerging technologies. The role will be central to Pollination in reviewing emerging technologies and their underlying supply chains, identifying prospective new opportunities and in developing technical due diligence reviews and investment theses. The AD will rely on their own knowledge where she/ he has core domain expertise but will also have access to a network of highly expert scientific advisers across technologies.
The AD will principally work in the Projects team but will also be responsible for assisting the Investment and Advisory teams as needed.
Key responsibilities
- Develop investment theses across a broad range of resources, energy and industrial decarbonisation technologies (or Pollination house views) to be used across the different Pollination teams
- Undertake and coordinate due diligence to support investment decisions across Pollination’s Projects and Investment funds including benchmarking against competitive solutions
- Provide input to financial and commercial analysis for the investment teams
- Assist project origination, design and coordination of technical studies to support development of major projects
- Provide technology input to the Advisory team and assist on engagements where
- Develop Pollination thought leadership on technology developments across different sectors
- Develop partnerships with key research institutions
What we are seeking in the candidate
- Deep domain expertise in resources, energy and industrial decarbonisation technologies
- Track record in undertaking techno-economic assessment of low carbon technologies and strong quantitative analysis skills
- Strong networks among research, technology start-ups and private sectors
- Exposure to deep tech and/or software-based companies highly regarded
- Ability to distil complex analysis into key findings about consequence and impact
- Ability to communicate effectively with passion and precision
- Experience working on investment tractions highly regarded
- Bachelor level, or higher, qualifications in chemical engineering, science or related qualification. Multi-disciplinary qualifications highly regarded
- Demonstrated knowledge and passion for scale up or breakthrough low carbon technologies
- Commitment to accelerating a net zero future
