About the Role

In order for the global energy system to make the transition from a carbon-based grid, to a renewable energy grid, large scale energy storage must be introduced into the electricity system to balance intra-hour supply and demand. Energy storage is the enabler of high penetration variable renewable generation like solar and wind.
Plus Power is looking for an Asset Manager to join the Asset Management Team and oversee the day to day operations of Plus Power’s stand-alone energy storage projects. The Asset Manager will work under the guidance of the Sr. Director of Asset Management and will collaborate across internal functions including Analytics Services, Finance and Accounting, Legal, Originations, Development, Engineering, Procurement and Construction, while managing the activities of third-party contractors to ensure best in the industry asset management for Plus Power’s operating projects.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day field operations of a portfolio of utility-scale, stand-alone battery energy storage systems (BESS).
- Manage the strict compliance of Energy Storage Power Purchase Agreements, Credit Agreements, Limited Liability Company Agreements, Lease Agreements, Interconnection Agreement, and project permits, among other agreements for operating projects.
- Communicate with offtakers, financing parties and transmission operators to build strong relationships with project stakeholders.
- Work cross-functionally with Construction, Originations, Legal, Accounting, Project Finance, Procurement, and SCADA teams to manage all contract compliance and project portfolio related issues during operations.
- Prepare and analyze monthly/quarterly operating reports, monthly actual to budget reports, and annual operating budgets.
- Familiarity with renewable energy deal structures, flip partnerships, sale and lease back, and financial models.
- Manage O&M Agreements and Long-Term Services Agreements to ensure compliance from service providers and to develop long-term relationships.
- Coordinate and supervise third party contractors’ planned maintenances schedules and work performance while minimizing the impact on production.
- Review, analyze and provide feedback on O&M reports.
- Support SCADA and data teams on managing processes for data integration of new and existing projects for reporting and analysis.
- Coordinate outages and unplanned maintenance including the investigation, analysis, and resolution of system issues.
- Conduct and analyze technical risk assessments and initiate preventive as well as corrective actions.
- Manage internal handover of BESS from Construction, Finance, and Development teams to Operations.
- Oversee NERC/ISO procedures, reporting requirements and training of operations staff.
- Support pre-construction engineering, EPC, and development functions with review of plant designs and contract terms related to operations.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of asset management experience in the renewable energy industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, business, or a related field.
- The ability to review contracts for commercial terms is required.
- Ability to travel to various locations within the United States roughly 20% of the time.
- Excellent attention to detail, strong analytic skills, and proven reporting competence.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the desire to communicate actively with various backgrounds.
- Self-starter, motivated, results-driven individual with high work standards.
- Enjoy working in a social environment and collaborating cross-functionally.
- Excellent project management skills and can complete tasks on-time with limited background.
- Knowledge of BESS technology and/or SCADA systems is a plus.
Compensation, Location, and Benefits
Highly-competitive remuneration from one of the nation’s most exciting leaders in the energy storage markets. Flexible, work from home locations acceptable for the long-term, or hybrid work from Plus Power’s offices in San Francisco or Houston.
The expected salary range* for this position begins at $120,000. Factors that may be used to determine the final compensation include relevant experience, skills, qualifications, geographic labor market, and other factors consistent with applicable law. This position is also eligible to participate in our annual discretionary bonus program.
