About Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA)
Airport Carbon Accreditation is the only global standard for carbon management in the airport industry. Its aim is to enable airports to implement best practices in carbon management. This programme has been developed by Airports Council International Europe in line with applicable international standards (e.g., GHG Protocol, ISO). About the role
The Carbon Accreditation Senior Associate plays an important role in ensuring the quality and reliability of the ACA administration services. The Senior Associate, who reports to the Director of Operations (DOO), is responsible for the execution and timely completion of the airports’ application review process, supervising the work of the Carbon Accreditation Associates, operating the Helpdesk, as well as guiding the airports through the accreditation process. The job holder requires deep knowledge of climate issues, focus on detail and customer care, a commitment to continuous learning and monitoring international climate developments and fluency in written and spoken English.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the day-to-day work of the Carbon Accreditation Associates and schedule tasks, ensuring quality and timely responses/review of applications.
- Supervise the operation of the Helpdesk (e.g., customer support, ticket response) and ACA Online (i.e., the online system that manages airport accreditation applications and data), assess their proper functionality and attend to challenges/problems.
- Support airports and verifiers by responding to queries, undertaking research, providing information/advise about programme requirements (e.g., online, telephone).
- Assess as well as review the assessments of airport and verifier applications and complete relevant forms.
- Review and compile data.
- Prepare reports and/or contribute to reports/documents (e.g., Annual Reports, procedures).
- Review documentation and databases.
- Prepare and deliver training.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with the management team to set quality benchmarks and monitor performance.
- Stay informed about developments in global GHG frameworks (e.g., GHG Protocol) and ACA.
- Undertake other key tasks (e.g., certificate filing, data entry, preparation of documents/databases, assess third party applications, support with financial records).
Requirements - Excellent academic background including a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in climate, environmental management/policy, environmental science, engineering, physics, sustainability or related discipline.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Deep understanding of GHG management issues, policies, and trends
- 2-3 years of prior professional experience in climate related frameworks, standards, and guidelines (e.g. GHG protocol, Science Based Targets Initiative, Carbon Disclosure Project, EU ETS, TCFD, ISO 14064), other sustainability related frameworks (e.g. GRI, SASB), GHG auditing, environmental auditing, quality auditing, or related field.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong inter-personal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Reporting skills, attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Prior supervisory skills a plus.
- Prior consulting or aviation industry experience a plus.
- Knowledge of Spanish or French a plus.
- Knowledge of quality/auditing issues a plus.
