Toromont Material Handling is looking for a Battery Maintenance Technician to join our team! A Battery Maintenance Technician performs scheduled maintenance, fault diagnosis and repairs on industrial batteries and chargers in a field environment.

In a typical day, YOU will:
- Demonstrate safe, environmentally sound and healthy work behaviors at all times, in support of Toromont’s Health and Safety Policies, Programs and initiatives
- Remove and replace battery cells when needed
- Fill cells with acid and determine specific gravity
- Perform services and repairs on various types of industrial batteries and chargers
- Perform watering, cleaning and other preventative maintenance tasks required on industrial batteries and chargers
- Respond to service calls for battery and charger diagnosis and repair
- Utilize electrical and mechanical testing and measuring equipment
- Identify & recommend additional repairs/services required on customer equipment
- Work with fellow technicians to coordinate necessary repairs
- Record battery values and update the work flow documents in use
Must-haves for this role:
- College Diploma in Electrical/mechanical/electronic or related field
- Service experience relating to batteries and chargers is an asset
- Good mechanical and electrical aptitudes, knowledge of electrical/electronic systems
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics
- Customer focused with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to complete services within established time guidelines in a busy, fast-paced environment where priorities are constantly changing
- Self-directed team player with strong initiative, business acumen and integrity
- Focused, energetic and organized with superior attention to detail and a sense of urgency
- Adaptable to on-call working schedules when required
- Able and willing to operate various material handling equipment
- A valid Driver’s License (class 5) and available to commute in various locations in Toromont Material Handling Dealer territory
