Who We're Looking For:
We are looking for someone who will be responsible for the structural design, analysis, and oversight of solar power installations, ensuring all systems are safe, reliable, and compliant with relevant standards and regulations. This role involves close collaboration with electrical engineers, project managers, operations teams, construction team, and other stakeholders to deliver efficient and sustainable PV solutions.
What You'll Do:
Design and analysis:
- Develop structural design for PV installations, including ground-mounted and rooftop solar systems.
- Knowledge of elevated platforms in flooded areas.
- Perform structural analysis to ensure that PV systems can withstand environmental loads such as wind, snow, seismic activity, and floods.
- Create detailed structural drawings and specifications for PV projects.
Project Management:
- Lead structural engineering aspects of PV projects from initial concept through to completion.
- Coordinate with electrical engineers, architects, contractors, civil engineers, and other project team members to ensure the integration of structural components.
- Prepare and review project documentation, including structural calculations, reports, and construction plans.
Construction Oversight:
Monitor when needed construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications and structural safety standards.
Conduct site inspections to verify that PV installations are being built according to the approved plans and structural requirements
Address any structural issues or discrepancies that arise during construction.
Compliance and Standards:
Ensure all PV structural designs comply with relevant building codes, standards, and industry best practices.
Stay updated with advancements in structural engineering and changes in regulations related to solar power installations.
Conduct risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate potential structural hazards.
Technical Support:
Provide technical support and guidance to project teams, contractors, and clients regarding structural aspects of PV projects.
Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for stakeholders.
Assist in the preparation of project proposals and bids by providing structural engineering input.
What You'll Need:
Technical skills:
- Education: BE in Civil or Structural engineering
- Master’s degree in Structural engineering is preferred.
- Proven experience in structural engineering, with a focus on photovoltaic or renewable energy projects.
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro)
- Experience with various construction materials and methods, particularly those used in PV installations.
Soft skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent project management and organizational abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Certifications:
- A professional engineer (PE) license is a plus.
- Certification in solar energy or PV systems (NABCEP certification) is a plus. Membership in relevant professional organizations (ASCE) is a plus.
Work environment:
- Hybrid: Office-based and remote. You will need to attend the office if project performance is impacted or internet connectivity is slow, etc…
- Meetings are to be attended. Minutes of meetings are to be sent out post-meetings. The format will be shown as onboarding the resource.
