DescriptionSkeleton's Superbattery Development department is looking for a driven
Battery Scientist
with the vision to match our ambition.
As a Battery Scientist, you would develop the SuperBattery cell to ensure performance targets for the final product are met.
Your tasks in the net zero journey:
- Develop our SuperBattery cells to hit specifications
- Optimize the cell and electrode design to reach cell energy and power performance targets
- Optimize the electrolyte and non-active cell components (e.g. separator)
- Build together with technicians prototype cells (laboratory cells to industrial cells) and test them
- Analyze test data and make conclusions to improve development
- Validate components from alternative suppliers or development partners.
- Ensure with industrial engineers that the developed cells and electrodes are mass manufacturable
- Provide expertise to resolve production and quality issues.
RequirementsWe don’t expect to master it all. At Skeleton, you’ll have the support of the team and we work together to achieve our goals. However, there are requirements you should be able to fulfill to succeed in this role:
- MSc or Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, material science, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of academic and/or industrial research experience in Li-ion battery development.
- Hands-on experience with electrochemical testing methods such as galvanostatic charging, cyclic voltammetry, and EIS.
- Experience in interpreting results from physical characterization methods such as SEM, XRD, XPS, and ICP-MS.
- Skills in data analytics and visualization.
- Systemic problem-solving skills.
- You are a good team player and you have a data-driven mindset.
- Any single or a combination of the following experiences/skills is a bonus:
- Experience in leading a research team.
- Experience in setting up an R&D lab (we are growing fast).
- Experience in building and testing pouch cells.
- Experience in handling large measurement datasets.
- Materials research experience with supercapacitor or high-power battery materials.
- Hands-on experience in organic chemistry including synthesis, characterization, and evaluation.
