We are currently seeking Level 3 Technicians to lead teams in the field. This position requires 100% travel within the USA and the work is project based, generally seasonal.
Supervisory Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage your team including holding daily safety meetings, creating the plan of action for the day, completing any necessary safety documentation prior to start of work, managing tooling and material inventory, etc.
- Liaise with the customer as needed on the current status of repairs, projected completion dates, safety documentation, timesheets, etc.
- Responsible for CAT 1-5 repairs and completing composite fiberglass blade repairs.
- Train Level 1 and 2 Technicians on all CAT 1-5 repairs, and on the rigging process and procedures.
- Ensure the health and safety of your employees.
- Prepare documentation such as, jobsite safety hazard analysis, timesheets, daily reports including blade repair reports, etc.
- Perform any necessary day-to-day tasks that may arise.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspect and photograph internal & external blade damage, document findings, and assemble all associated paperwork as required to be posted for further action by Engineering.
- Perform coating and minor structural repairs on internal and external blade surfaces, tip repair, leading and trailing edge repair while following guidelines provided by Engineering.
- Utilize blade access platforms at heights of 300ft or more.
- Help in all areas of site preparation (i.e. coordination of labor and materials) with minimal supervision.
- Document all work performed using mobile-based service reporting procedures.
- Communicate site status to engineering, customers, and management.
- Provide wind turbine generator LOTO (Lock Out & Tag Out) support.
Position Requirements
- Supervisory/Management experience is a must, preferably in the Wind Industry.
- Experience of 3-5 years or more in blade inspections, working with suspended platforms, rigging and derigging, blade repair and repair materials, and a thorough understanding of the laminating process and wind blade composition.
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent, preference given to those with Renewable Energy education.
- Competent/proficient in rigging suspended platforms.
- Possess or willing to obtain the necessary qualification including Arc Flash/NFPA70E, Confined Space & Rescue, GWO BST and ART, OSHA 10, LOTO, and Respirator Fit Testing.
- Strong verbal and written English skills.
- Ability to think and react quickly and solve problems creatively.
- Approachable and empathetic.
- Ability to delegate.
- Successful candidates must pass a background and motor vehicle record check and possess a valid driver's license.
Working Conditions:
Work conditions are physically demanding, including but not limited to bending, crouching, kneeling, standing for extended periods, and handling heavy loads. Further, technicians will be required to work at heights, in noisy environments, confined spaces. Work takes place in all weather conditions and long hours during the week and weekends are required.
Compensation:
- Rate of pay ranges from $32 to $40 per hour based on experience.
- Daily per diems of $140 during active employment.
- Transportation to and from worksites within the USA will be provided.
