POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

YOUR ROLE
Positions are in the Water Planning and Management Division, Water Planning Programs. As an Environmental Analyst 1 in this division, you will be responsible for assisting with project oversight and technical assistance for grant programs with the goal to improve water quality.
Duties may include:
- Assisting with the review of environmental data to implement program policy;
- Assisting with maintaining standard operating procedures such as those contained in a quality assurance project plan, grant guidance document, or technical support document;
- Assisting with outreach and response to public communications and requests for information;
- Assisting with data management, statistical evaluation, analysis and report writing;
- Providing task management for meetings and committees, including but not limited to scheduling meetings, drafting agendas and compiling meeting materials;
- Providing project task management tracking and maintaining reporting requirements;
- Reviewing technical documents and grant project proposals to develop recommended actions and alternatives.

Within the Bureau of Water Protection & Land Reuse, the Water Planning and Management Division (WPMD) is responsible for implementing requirements of the federal Clean Water Act and state statutes and regulations to protect water quality and habitat, ensure public health and safety, maintain water quantity, and oversee and manage critical wastewater and dam infrastructure.
The ultimate goal is to provide fishable, swimmable waters throughout the state for the use and enjoyment of all Connecticut citizens and protect life and property. Programs revolve around state and federal programs for water quality (including establishing water quality standards) and water quantity in our streams, rivers, lakes, and the Long Island Sound and its embayments.
In the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection this class is accountable for performing a limited range of tasks in the technical review and analysis of environmental program data and issues within the environmental field and assisting in the development of recommendations for courses of action and implementation of policy and program decisions.
In other state agencies this class is accountable for performing a limited range of tasks in the planning, monitoring, implementation and evaluation of environmental program data and issues and assisting in the development of recommendations for courses of action.
Five (5) years of experience involving technical analysis and interpretation of environmental program data or planning and implementing environmental programs.
Incumbents in this class may be exposed to some danger of injury or physical harm from on-site environments and a moderate degree of discomfort from exposure to year-round weather conditions.
