Purpose
Reporting to the Smart Solutions Director, you will devise, develop and lead Smart Solar strategy and product lifecycle.
Delivering new products and services within this fast-paced market, owning the existing and ongoing product lifecycles, you will secure ScottishPower’s position as a key player in the drive to decarbonise through clean energy solutions.
Responsibilities
ScottishPower has been providing GB-wide solar installs since 2021 with a well-established operation in place, but is seeking to grow further and faster. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the strategy to grow the solar solutions business with full P&L ownership, but with the support of the wider ScottishPower business.
The scope includes the selection of installation and hardware providers, pricing and promotion strategy, working with selected partners that share our values, developing new products and services as well as enhancing the customer experience.
Key internal stakeholders will support the strategy including Marketing, Sales, Customer Service, Procurement, Legal, Digital and Systems. You will also promote ScottishPower’s solar solutions and the company’s vision of net zero delivery to external stakeholders including local and national government, industry events, collaboration partners and to the wider public.
Additional responsibilities will include:
Owning the product lifecycle of existing and new Smart Solar products and services, ensuring strong consolidation offerings through product and service variations in line with the Smart Solutions strategic road map to enable challenging customer growth ambitions
Fully understanding the regulatory environment of new products and services, conducting a full risk analysis of ScottishPower’s entry into a marketplace, working with Legal, Control and Compliance to ensure a governance framework is established prior to product/market entry
Developing Director and Senior Management level relationships both internally and externally, with the objective of leading the establishment of stable and successful partnerships throughout a product or service offering lifecycle
Creating and influencing the delivery of product launches or variations cross functionally of individual product strategies and related tactical plans – this will be across Domestic, SME and Commercial/Community areas, involving close liaison with Sales, Marketing and any relevant departments
Ensuring coordination through lifecycle management of relevant business areas for the creation of new structures, processes or systems in order to support Smart Solar or any business improvement to those services
Tracking competitor activities in the Smart Solar arena to help inform and shape future development strategies
Working closely with the Smart Solutions Delivery department, continuously assessing existing delivery partner performance, considering alternative supply chain solutions for future product developments and service arrangements with the aim of being ready to act swiftly to recover a partner loss scenario with the replacement of alternative supply chain solutions
Leading the drive for personal development and career development across the Smart Solar Team through delegation and empowerment where appropriate, regular provision of constructive feedback, coaching, mentoring, leadership and delivery of formal training
Fully engaging and participating in and lead initiatives aimed at driving global best practice to deliver the Global Smart Solar strategy, working closely with stakeholders across the Iberdrola Group, ensuring that we leverage the Iberdrola brand and spend to gain competitive advantage
What you’ll bring
Degree educated or equivalent with managerial experience in a business-to-business situation, you will possess a proven ability to assess marketplace opportunity, identifying a clear strategic course of action with a creative ability to turn plans into deliverables.
With proven product development and product lifecycle management experience, you will possess strong technical knowledge of solar and wider energy efficiency products and services, with a strong understanding of the systems, processes and governance in particular the processes, systems and management disciplines that are likely to contribute significantly to the Smart Solar customer lifecycle.
As a highly confident communicator with Director level stakeholders both internally and externally, you will hold a proven track record in making sound recommendations and concluding with strong implementation plans.
