GE Vernova's Gas Power Heavy Duty Services division is looking for a Senior Engineer - Mechanical Component to join their design engineering team in India. This team plays a critical role in delivering essential upgrade projects on a global scale. The selected candidate will be responsible for coaching the team & also independently executing engineering task associated with Gas Turbine (Structures & HPG components) and Compressor Module (Structures and Rotor components) as a part of Configuration Modification and Upgrade (CM&U) projects at both ITO and OTR stages. In this role, the candidate will have full ownership of the mechanical designs, ensuring that the engineering deliverables are completed on time and meet quality standards. They will also address complex design issues related to Gas Turbine and Compressor Modules from both an engineering and manufacturing perspective. Moreover, the role involves contributing to key team objectives such as cost-saving initiatives, collaborating with sourcing, repair, and field teams to develop customized hardware modifications. This position offers an opportunity to apply creative thinking in the development of turbine F2F systems for cutting-edge gas turbine engines, including both GE and legacy Alstom units, while considering factors like cost, reliability, operability, and emissions. The selected individual will work alongside top industry experts to drive forward advanced gas turbine technology and contribute to global electrification efforts while supporting decarbonization initiatives.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Lead and carry out the design and analysis of Gas Turbine and Compressor Modules (including Structures, HPG, and Rotor components) for assigned CM&U projects, utilizing sound engineering principles while adhering to established business standards, practices, procedures, and program or product requirements.
2. The selected individual will leverage their expertise to execute HD service upgrade projects across both ITO and OTR phases, developing optimized configurations in terms of geometry, cost, performance, and materials, while ensuring compliance with the latest design practice (DP) guidelines.
3. Conduct thorough evaluations of current and proposed turbine & compressor module hardware design modifications to ensure the necessary improvements in gas turbine performance, meeting project-specific performance guarantees and customer critical-to-quality (CTQ) requirements.
4. Own and provide PLM deliverables and dispositions (such as casing compatibility checks) as a part of heavy-duty service upgrade projects.
5. Own and support project ASAP workflows and EDRM calls and provide technical support on complex field issues routed to engineering via ER, RCA, NCR, or safety cases.
6. Co-own TAGs related to turbine and compressor module upgrades and in defining AO hardware for AGP, PIP, casings, bearings, rotors, structures, etc.
7. Proactively collaborate with cross-functional teams (HT, Aero, MFG, Repair, PDE, fleet management, and System) for system-level optimization.
8. Work with TL/controlled title holders/CE offices and ensure review rigor and attention to detail.
9. Concurrently work on multiple projects, monitoring progress and quality, and ensuring schedule requirements are met.
10. Effectively communicate and provide recommendations to both internal and external customers through proper engineering analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data.
11. Align with overall business priorities: safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC).
12. Ability to learn new technical domains quickly and utilize the learnings for executing active projects by making quick decisions based on the new learnings.
13. Strong oral and written communication skills, along with the ability to customize presentations and communicate technical content based on occasion, audience, and leadership level.
14. Lead the team to foster/build strong relationships with Sourcing, Supply Chain, and other engineering teams and functions in the fulfilment of projects.
15. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by employing lean tools and principles.

Required Qualifications
• B. Eng/B. Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or closely related Engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum 10-12 years of experience in Turbo Machinery Mechanical components design experience or in a related engineering discipline.
• Good understanding of design evolution of the Turbine & Compressor Module and ability to check compatibility of different hardware configurations as it applies to different upgrade projects.
Desired Characteristics
• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or closely related Engineering discipline.
• Experience in gas turbine domain especially on HGP capital parts like Nozzles, Shrouds, and Buckets, including different hardware configurations applicable to both legacy GE and/or Alstom turbine units
• Familiarity with life cycle management, fatigue evaluations, other engineering calculations and tools such as finite element (FEA) analysis.
