WHO WE ARE
General Purpose:
The Process Lead, along with being a direct and integral member of the process area team, is responsible for leading and directing his/her crew in the safe execution of the daily production plan and associated support activities scheduled in their process area of responsibility. Will work roughly 30% of the time of process and 70% on leadership and administrative tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible and accountable for their respective team’s performance in safety, quality, delivery and productivity; will ensure their team’s full compliance and efforts in support of the Vestas safety and quality standards and will proactively address challenges that would compromise the safety of employees, the quality or reliability of our products, the adherence to weekly production schedules and takt plans and will ensure efficient and appropriate utilization of resources.

Leadership and Direction

- Foster participation, ownership and collaboration by encouraging area team members involvement, soliciting input on process improvements and utilizing team member ideas as much as possible
- Expected to translate goals set by leadership into tasks and drive completion of daily production schedule; responsible for team’s performance with regards to safety, quality, delivery and schedule adherence.
- Coordinate the allocation of employees, materials, equipment to optimize output while ensuring all organizational policies, procedure and applicable laws are adhered to
- Support Supervisor and other members of Management with company communication; ensure open and transparent, bi-directional communication amongst team both laterally between team members but also to support groups, supplier groups, customer groups and management
- Coach Vestas Team Members and temporary employees as needed for continuous improvement on expectations and performance in safe work practices, meeting required quality standards, takt and efficient completion of tasks
Safety
- Set an example, at all times, with regards to safe behavior, hazard recognition, and incident prevention; ensure they and other team members are safe and actively support an incident free culture and mindset
- Ensure team’s compliance of established safety rules, policies and practices of environmental, health and safety with specific attention to the Vestas Lifesaving Rules
- Responsible for the safe on-boarding of new team members or those transferring into the area; review and train the new team member on the area risk assessment and be responsible the new team member is fully and accurately trained in proper use of tools, PPE requirements for the area, hazards, processes and procedures for completing work safely in the assigned area
- Responsible for conducting daily/monthly safety inspections in assigned area, correcting hazards identified, and ensure that employees are using proper PPE at all times
- Responsible to alert appropriate support function when encountering the need to execute non-standard processes, and lead/participate in creation of job hazard analysis prior to work being performed
- Assist Production Supervisor in investigating incidents and near misses in conjunction with the safety representative
- Take immediate action when tools or equipment are not being used safely or when tools are need of repair that are presenting safety risks
Quality
- Ensure process area teams adherence to all quality standards and specifications; ensure team follows all work instructions as outlined in PWIs, Technical Specs, 1-Ps and Quality Messages
- Responsible to conduct or team conducts all quality walks and inspections as prescribed by the control plan; ensure all IRFs and QDA is filled out in a timely manner alerting, via an NC, of any process deviations and defects
- Lead and/or participate in all defect/NC root cause/corrective action exercises for assigned process area/shift and lead and/or support implementation of all corrective actions
- The Process Lead is the first level of escalation for all non-disciplinary issues in the process area and will be the QBD case handler for issues requiring resources outside the process area.
- Ensure accuracy of all build documentation and alerts Technical Support, Quality Engineering and Supervision if inaccuracies exist; may lead or participate in ECR generation or support to correct situation
Training
- Responsible to conduct or coordinate the on-process training, including line orientation and risk review, of all new team members or those transferring into the area; may be expected to train directly or arrange for training by other team members in the area that are TDR level 4 or above
- Responsible to track, report and make recommendations to supervision regarding team members’ training progress and readiness to work independently
Administrative
- Provide feedback and input to Team Members performance evaluations, behavior and task performance; recommend and provide input to TDR proficiency in assigned process areas
- Monitor and review process areas performance with regards to process deviations in scrap, rework, and defects that affect COPQ (cost of poor quality); may lead/participate in solution development and deployment to correct situations causing defects
- Responsible to maintain good housekeeping standards through 5S concepts and practices in assigned process area; responsible to teach and develop team’s adherence to factory 5S standards
- Demonstrate solid and practical understanding of and commitment toward the use of Lean tools including 5S, Standard Work, Job Cards with a Continuous Improvement mindset at all times
- Demonstrate complete process/job knowledge, as measured in TDR level 4, and understanding in areas of responsibility
- Ensure Manufacturing Order accuracy in material and labor consumption giving support to labor postings, build of materials to build accuracy, spare part and NCR process adherence
- Support and incorporate first line preventative maintenance into daily activities; ensure all equipment is inspected as required and PM schedules are supported and completed
Supervisor
- Provide day-to-day direction to team members in assigned area but no direct supervisory role; provide Team Member performance feedback to Supervisors for use in personnel evaluations
Essential Functions:
- Must be able to see and hear alarms, timers and follow verbal instructions
- Must be able to wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the task
- Must be able to tolerate an environment where chemicals and materials are used within OSHA guidelines
- Ability to work at a pace in accordance to a takt plan that still meets safety and quality requirements

- Push, pull and lift to 35 pounds own their own and team lift up to 70 lbs.
Education, Training, and Skills Required:
- A high school diploma or general education degree (GED), one to three years related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
- Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily in Process area to a TDR level 4 or above
- Minimum (1) year experience in process area required or previous leadership experience inside Vestas as Lead Operator, Team Lead, Process Instructor, Supervisor or equivalent
- Candidate should be performing at or above expectations according to CPD performance and behavior feedback and should not have any open/active warnings or performance improvement plans
- Able to read and interpret documents (operating / maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, engineering drawings), generate routine reports / correspondence and to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees is required
- Able to use the basic functionality included in the Microsoft Office Application Suite and Vestas’ proprietary or subscribed-to computer applications used for managing or tracking production-related activities (ex. time tracking, material transactions) is required

Salary Range: $30.00-$39.00
