The Sustainability Manager position plays a pivotal role in steering the Company towards its strategic sustainability goals across three key pillars: (i) Simple and accessible health and financial protection, (ii) Responsible investment and (iii) Sustainable business.
The Sustainability Manager role contributes to PruBSN's commitment to sustainable business practices and future readiness. As sustainability issues and climate risk continues to gain prominence in the regulatory landscape and affects financial stability and performance, this role contributes to PruBSN's resilience and long-term business success. This role enables PruBSN to not only comply with regulatory requirements but also build a strategic advantage by aligning our financial practices with sustainability.
1. Assist with the rollout and implementation of BNM Climate Risk Management and Scenario Analysis (CRMSA) and Sustainability Framework for the Company, focusing on integration of climate risk and sustainability into new / existing processes to ensure regulatory requirements are met.
2. Liaise across departments to research and develop opportunities for sustainability initiatives. Support departments and provides guidance on sustainability projects, including conceptualization, communication, and implementation of the projects.
3. Support and drive various training programs and engagement across all levels of the Company, to build up climate risk and sustainability knowledge and awareness.
4. Prepare reports for the Sustainability Steering Committee, Board Risk Management Committee and the Board, including progress of the CRMSA Implementation Plan, tracking of the Sustainability KPIs, updates on Sustainability initiatives and latest developments in the industry.
5. Maintains awareness of industry trends on latest developments in relation to sustainability, climate risk, emerging threats and opportunities. Highlights any potential concerns / risks and proactively shares sustainability and risk management practices.
6. Performs any other tasks as may be directed by Head of the Department.
Qualification and Experience
Strong communication skills with a range of stakeholders
Curious and passionate to design/implement sustainable business practices and steward the human impacts of climate change
A bachelor's degree or equivalent, preference for Sustainability, Risk Management, Science, Social, Business or related discipline
Minimally 5 years related working experience, preferably in the Financial Industry
Good analytical and problem-solving skills
IT literate and well versed in Microsoft office suite; specially MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Excel
Able to work under pressure and deliver within tight deadlines
Proficiency in English is a key requirement. Fluent communication and writing skills in English is a must and Bahasa Malaysia would be an added advantage.
