Role Overview:
The Solar Development Lead at DG will support the development of solar and storage projects under 20MWac throughout the United States. This is a fast-paced and multi-faceted role facing multiple internal and external stakeholders and provides exposure to commercial matters
Main responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of solar project development including review of regulatory, environmental, real estate, technical and interconnection due diligence for projects under 20MWac. This position will focus primarily on C&I (rooftop and carport) projects.
- Conduct due diligence and project analysis for PV solar rooftop and ground mounted projects, and identify red flags and potential project-killers
- Produce preliminary feasibility reports, including permit road maps, development budgets, schedule and risk analysis.
- Understand permitting regimes and requirements in multiple jurisdictions, review and approve the work of external consultants to ensure high standards of work
- Manage budgets, milestones, schedules, and deliverables for development projects.
- Coordinate with engineering, finance, legal and construction to ensure efficient and compliant development of solar projects.
- Manage consultants, external stakeholders and other third parties to drive project execution on schedule and budget.
- Support as needed in the structuring, negotiating, and closing of land and tax agreements.
- Develop expertise in, and manage application efforts for various solar incentive programs
- Ensure development activities comply with internal EDPR standards as well as federal, state, and local
- Proactively identify development bottlenecks and organize teams internally and externally to problem solve
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years managing the development of multiple solar energy projects simultaneously
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Science or related field
- Deep knowledge of navigating site development activities including, but not limited to, utility interconnection, permitting, land easements, and environmental studies
- Familiarity with the components, design and interconnection of pv systems
- Demonstrated success developing solar PV projects through the full project development lifecycle
- Financial planning, budgeting, organizational and resource mangement abilities
- Strong goal orientation, ability to prioritize tasks, and effectively manage a variety of project stakeholders
- Ability to problem solve, develop judgements and communicate effectively
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software

Salary hiring range: $125,000-$140,000
Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry and are one part of many compensation, benefits, and other reward opportunities we provide. Individual pay rate decisions are based on several factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company.
