ResponsibilitiesAs a Process Study Engineer, you will play a crucial role in evaluating and optimizing newly installed battery cell production lines in new plants. You will address significant "what-if" questions from the program planning team (MSAP), providing both quick answers and detailed multi-week study responses. Your analysis will cover investment costs, operating costs, headcount changes, retooling steps, installation sequences, and downtime feasibility.

Investigate Production Line Adjustments:
- Examine questions regarding changes in product volumes, providing both rapid and detailed responses.
- Analyze the impact on investment costs, operating costs, headcount, and feasibility of retooling and installation sequences.
- Analyze manufacturing feasibility
- New product evaluation and requirement for existing production plant with minimal changes
- Analyze and report manufacturing capacity (with strong understanding of cell (and module) process / cost, workforce and time calculation)
Present Solutions:
- Offer pros and cons for multiple potential solutions.
- Prepare detailed study documents, including:
- Capacity strategy with throughput calculations
- Production system layouts
- Itemized cost sheets with OEM/surrogate quotes
- Stand-alone PowerPoint presentations for organizational leadership
- Apply battery cell process engineering expertise to determine optimal process engineering methods and evaluation criteria.
Project Management
- Assist in creating and implementing strategies, procedures, guidelines, Bill of Process, and manufacturing design standards for program consistency.
- Drive action with internal & cross functional teams to successfully complete projects within time & resource constraints
- Track project progress & report effectively on status, blockers & changes to customer as well as internal senior management
- Track project costs & drive cost management improvement
Collaborate with Multi-Functional Teams:
- Communicate and work with various groups (e.g., Industrial Engineering, Product Development, Advanced Manufacturing) to assess and implement technology.)
Professional Representation:
- Represent Ford Motor Company positively with all partners, including joint ventures and industry forums.
Incorporate Continuous Improvement:
- Utilize manufacturing continuous improvement and lessons learned to identify and implement best-in-class methods.
You'll have…
- B.S in Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or relevant degree
- Minimum 5 years of high-volume manufacturing process support or development related experience
- Experience with Microsoft Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Sharepoint)
- Strong analytical skills to assess production line adjustments and feasibility.
- Ability to prepare comprehensive study documents and presentations.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with multi-functional teams.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and consistency across programs.
- Professional demeanor in representing the company with external partners.
Even better, you may have..
- 5+ years of battery project management or process evaluation experience
- 5+ years of battery or automotive industry experience
- Understanding of different cell processing requirements with different chemistry or cell form factors
- Experience interacting with senior leadership, process engineering teams, and plant production teams
