Position Summary:
The Electrical Superintendent is responsible for coordinating the site electrical construction schedule, execution plan, and managing the daily issues involved during the construction of solar generation project. This position coordinates all electrical site construction activities and supervises all electrical field personnel as required to successfully complete the solar project on schedule and within budget. The Electrical Superintendent works diligently to build a safe, high quality, profitable solar project.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide excellence in the management and delivery of the project, in-line with the client’s expectations.
- Maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and other employees.
- Provide information about site activities including accurate install rates for electrical discipline, projected task completion and hazards to the Site Manager.
- Schedule and ensure appropriate staffing for daily construction activities with employees.
- Identify potential schedule changes, workflow, and staffing issues.
- Order materials and schedule inspections as necessary throughout the process.
- Understand the project plans and specifications.
- Prepare schedules and supervise the completion of a final electrical punch list.
- Ensure that transmission line structures - including all foundations and required access - are built as per specification.
- Ensure site prep work is executed as per contracts, design, and specification.
- Review the engineer's drawings prior to the beginning of construction, to ensure that the project can be built in a safe and reliable manner.
- Manage the quality control program to ensure processes are implemented according to the design of the project consistently.
- Maintain an organized job site, including in the onsite construction office.
- Manage any design change notices.
- Manage the subcontractor contracts to ensure compliance.
- Manage and maintain the safety of electrical crews to the highest level.
- Ensure the completion of all required permitting activities before commencement of work.
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Must have 4+ years of experience in a solar construction environment or utility construction environment.
- Advanced level of knowledge in:
- Safety and OSHA requirements
- LOTO implementation & management
- Electrical installation experience
- Interpretation of a project schedule
- Planning and task direction
- Adaptability to environment
- Working in fast paced environment
- Interpretation of scopes of work
- Project permits
- Strong decision making skills
- Understanding environmental concepts including permit requirements
- Interpreting state rules and regulations

- Intermediate level of knowledge in:
- Project management
- Creating logical and resource-loaded project schedules
- Budget analysis and controls
- Change orders
- QA/QC processes
- Development of processes and procedures
- Continuous improvement such as Lean, Six Sigma, Total Quality Management
- Project finance
- Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PPT, Outlook, Visio)
- Job costing or accounting software
- Basic level of knowledge in:
- Engineering management
- Scheduling software (MS Project, Primavera 6)
- Proficient in construction in both electric substations (energized and green field) and transmission lines

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This job regularly operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
