Subject Matter Expert: Constructability Review Manager for Civil & Structural Works
Reports to (Job – Role): Head – Civil & Structural
Reportee (Job – Role): Lead Engineers, Engineers
Education: Graduate in Civil Engineering / Master’s in Construction Technology & Management
Experience: 12-15 years of experience in following areas in the field of infrastructure projects
- Planning of construction methods and erection sequences
- Knowledge in pre-casting, planning, and scheduling of construction works.
- Preparing construction method statements.
- Design/detailing of RCC and Structural steel design using IS/BS/Other international codes.
- Field execution of Civil & Structural works.
- Design of formwork and scaffolding.
- Knowledge and understanding of heavy equipment for preparing erection schemes.
- Knowledge in building trades, construction materials, heavy building techniques and regulations.
Experience in Civil & Structural Construction works in Renewable Energy Sector would be an advantage.
Objective:
Responsible for performing the Constructability reviews for the Civil & Structural works for Renewable (PV Solar, BESS, Wind) projects, Substation Projects and Utility Power Distribution Projects
The Civil & Structural Works include Site Development works (Grading, Slope protection, retaining walls, Boundary walls / Fence), Electrical Buildings (GIS, Control), Utility Buildings (Administrative, Pump house, Security, Staff Quarters, Guest House, Ware House, etc.), Substation Outdoor Structures & Foundations, PV / BESS Plant Structures and Foundations, Wind Farm Civil BOP, Infrastructure works including Plant Roads, Access Roads, Drains, Yard Paving, etc.
- Infuse construction knowledge into the design process.
- Align engineering deliverables with construction realities.
- Reduce rework streamlining the Engineering to be aligned with the construction process,
- Anticipate and identify challenges to the actual construction of the project before a project moves on from design to construction phase.
- Identify anticipated construction problems with the design so that the design can be aligned.
- Have deeper understanding of the project’s costs, timelines and build-ability issues so that adjustments can be made at Engineering stage itself.
- Ensure design intent is translated in construction.
Responsible for safe, innovative, and workable engineering solutions within budgeted cost/ quantity, deliver on time and maintaining highest standards of engineering.
Technical Expertise:
Should be Proficient in following areas:
- Develop plans, specifications, and contract documents for constructability.
- Conducting constructability reviews to improve the total quality of construction.
- Identify areas that increase costs, impair the schedule, decrease quality, impair safety margins and provide solutions to overcome construction challenges.
- Good field experience to anticipate and identify challenges to the actual construction of the project before a project moves on from design to construction phase.
- In depth understanding of the project’s costs, timelines and build-ability issues to provide appropriate solutions in design phase.
Effectively integrate construction knowledge into the conceptual planning, design for the project facilitating ease of construction
