We are looking for a Project Engineer with a background in Construction Management or and equivalent. More importantly - we are looking for someone eager to learn, who has a flexible mind, is highly organized, doesn’t mind long hours or weekend work, and is excited by the prospect of traveling the country. POSITION SUMMARY:
THIS IS A 75-100% TRAVEL POSITION. No relocation will be provided as this position is largely away from our home office, but housing and per diem are provided while on-project.
The Project Engineer reports to the Project Manager and is responsible for research and design of project work activities, as well as the development of schedules and pay applications. They will be able to envision creative solutions to uncommon problems as well as collect, model, and draw conclusions from data generated at each activity in a project. This position is a great opportunity for someone who wants push themselves creatively in a fast paced environment while gaining project management experience in the field.
DESCRIPTION OF TASKS (Including, but not limited to):
- PRE-PROJECT PLANNING – Work with Senior Management, Estimating, and Project Manager to design work plan, schedule and budgets in the preconstruction phase. Provide research and advice to the Project Manager to address crew and equipment needs.
- PROJECT EXECUTION AND OVERSIGHT-
- STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT - Maintain professional relations with internal and external stakeholders. Be proactive in addressing stakeholder concerns and communicating issues up the chain of command. This includes understanding of plan documents, production needs and change order requests.
- PROJECT CLOSEOUT – Understand the requirements for project completion and provide documentation for sign off by customer and other stakeholders. Contribute to after action reports and lessons learned documents, as well as coordinate mobilization to other/next projects.
- Safety Management: Drive a culture of safety and accountability above all else
- Quality Management: Address, track, and build reports to quantify quality metrics for ongoing work
- Production Management: Schedule personnel and work activities in accordance with project schedule and goals determined during bidding and project outset.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to translate engineering designs into clear and actionable work plans
- Functionally knowledgeable of AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, HCSS
- Approach conflict with open mind
- Able to build and model data, as well as provide actionable recommendations
- Comfortable asking questions when unsure
- Passion for rejecting the status quo
- Solicit and analyze subcontractor/vendor pricing and input when required
- Understands the principals and concepts of PMP and Lean Six Sigma, even if no certification
- Extraordinary organization skills
- Exceptional creative problem solving
- Constantly strives to improve individual capabilities, performance and expand knowledge of construction technologies and techniques
- Understanding of construction GPS techniques and technology, with preference to TopCon
- Familiarity with Construction Industry
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
QUALIFICATION PREFERENCES:
- Bachelors Degree (or better) in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, Mining Management, Business, or equivalent
- Experience in Construction or Mining Industry, preferably as an intern, operator or laborer
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: $85,000 per year
