Senior Fuel Handling Test Engineer
TerraPower, LLC. Is seeking to contract with a highly motivated Fuel Handling Test Engineer that will focus on the testing of primarily mechanical Fuel Handling and process systems. The successful candidate will plan, design, and execute tests and report on results. The Test Engineer will work as part of a high-performing team of engineers and will work closely with internal and external customers to ensure tests meet requirements and are conducted in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Given test requirements – create test plans, test designs, and test procedures for development, qualification, and acceptance testing work.
- Perform data analysis of test results and generate test reports.
- Coordinate testing activities for design, assembly, and commissioning of test equipment.
- Support continuous learning and application of nuclear industry best practices in order to maintain the highest quality of engineering design and proactively identify process change/enhancement opportunities.
- Support planning efforts and maintain schedule adherence for test activities, as well as their integration with an overall test and equipment delivery schedule.
- Interface with design disciplines (such as mechanical, instrumentation and controls, civil, and nuclear) to identify and develop plant design information and specify test design and performance criteria.
- Create and execute plans for qualification of plant equipment.
Key Qualifications and Skills
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited university and 10+ years direct experience with proven mechanical systems skills.
- Experience in high temperature and/or alkali metal environments required.
- Previous experience with nuclear reactors, nuclear fuel handling process systems, or similar high-performance system or equipment design is required.
- Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
- Experience working to quality standards on design activities, such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001.
- Experience with LabView for data acquisition applications is required.
- Candidate must be a self-starter and possess ability to coordinate and lead a test team’s effort with minimal direction.
- Ability to handle projects that include many competing objectives and design constraints, with ability to resolve conflicts between objectives.
- Ability to work on simultaneous tasks that require a multi-disciplinary approach.
- The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.

Salary Range Level 10: $109,446 - $164,170
*Typically, our employee salaries are within .90 – 1.0 of the mid-point of the posted salary band. Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected individual’s qualifications and experience. This range is specific to Washington State.
