We are looking to hire a SAFETY COORDINATOR based out of our Lewiston, ME location. This individual will report to and our Vice President of EHS with development of project specific plans and permits.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct site audits and assessments to ensure compliance with Federal, State and client requirements
- Conduct accident/incident investigations, near miss, property damage, assist with claim management, and implements corrective action items to avoid reoccurrence.
- Review client contracts, develop site specific safety plans, attend kick off meetings, and assist in close out meeting action items.
- Perform orientation training for new employees, equipment training, FA/CPR, NFPA 70E, CSE, etc.
- Maintain a schedule for equipment testing such as rubber goods, hot sticks, grounds, and macs.
- Assist with developing and revising JHA’s, SSSP’s, PowerPoint training slides, and other safety programs.
- Assume any additional duties and responsibilities as delegated by Sargent Electrical Management.
SKILLS:
- Excellent written communication skills. Proficient with computers, particularly Microsoft Office applications, including the ability to type.
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of diverse individuals.
- Works efficiently under tight time frames, responds to requests in a timely manner, and communicates effectively as a team player.
- Understands the importance of being able to multi-task.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3 years minimum experience in safety electric utility operations, environmental protection, and occupational health.
- 4 - year college degree in safety management/sciences or equivalent or 8 years combined education and experience in EHS with a focus on electric utility construction.
- Must have valid driver’s license.
- Must be willing to work in varying weather elements, physically able to climb ladders/scaffolding, stand for long periods of time.

- CUSP - Certified Utility Safety Specialist
- CHST - Certified Health and Safety Technician
- CSP - Certified Safety Professional
- Equipment Trainer
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- Office location is Lewiston, Maine. However, this position will support surrounding states.
