Our client is seeking an experienced Grid Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for the successful delivery of the project grid connection and will serve as the primary interface between the company, the grid operator, and planning authorities.
Responsibilities
The main purpose of the Grid Manager is to ensure the grid connections for large-scale solar/Wind projects in Romania are delivered and managed from early design to successful completion.
- Develop and maintain excellent relationships with the TSO/DNO.
- Carry out technical due diligence and risk assessment on grid connection schemes/grid offers received from TSO/DNO.
- Manage consultants and developers to support grid delivery.
- Provide cost estimates and grid connection delivery timescales.
- Take ownership of the grid application process, ensuring timely submission and progress through the DNO/TSO and national processes.
- Establish relationships with competent HV/MV contractors and EPCs to drive performance and value without compromising quality.
- Review the technical designs submitted by HV/MV contractors and/or EPCs.
- Act on new connection methods arising from DNO/TSO policy changes and changing industry standards.
- Develop grid connection designs that reduce installation time and cost.
- Develop and maintain key processes.
Requirements
- Proven track record of experience in Romania within the grid connection space.
- Full conversance with the end-to-end TSO/DNO/ICP process for renewable connections.
- Experience in conducting technical due diligence and risk assessment of grid offers/agreements.
- Experience in design reviews of HV/MV substations and design studies.
- A good network of contacts across the TSO/DNO and ICP environment.
- Established relationships with TSOs/DNOs.
- Previous experience in the design and construction of HV/MV substations.
- Experience with the construction of grid connections for solar plants.
- Ability to write reports and effectively communicate complex technical matters with clarity.
- Ability to work in a team environment, including with operations teams, business development, EPCs, etc.
- Strong knowledge of the entire connection process in Romania, from grid offer request to entry into operation, including all intermediate steps (grid design validation, planning consent validation, operation agreement, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of the requirements for grid code compliance, TSO/DNO connection procedures, and administrative authorisations required for the connection of renewable plants in the Italian market.
- A degree qualification in electrical power engineering or a mix of electrical/renewable energy engineering.
- Knowledge and experience of power systems, power systems studies, and grid connection of renewable projects in Italy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related engineering fields.
- Proven track record of 5+ years in grid management.
- Electrical licensing strongly preferred related to HV substations.
- In-depth knowledge of the National Electrical Code and other PV system regulatory codes.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, self-motivated with demonstrated problem-solving capability.
- Self-starter with excellent presentation skills, attention to detail, and accuracy.
- Self-disciplined and result-oriented.
- Flexibility to travel to project sites in various locations whenever necessary.
