We are currently seeking an experienced Renewable Estimator with a focus on renewable generation projects such as battery storage, solar, wind, hydrogen, and more. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of five years of experience in estimating and/or managing projects. They should possess a competent understanding of the construction process and knowledge of civil, structural, and electrical scopes. This Renewable Estimator will be responsible for providing accurate and timely project estimates by analyzing project requirements, identifying potential issues, and proposing suitable solutions.
This position reports to Sargent Electric's Pittsburgh, PA office. This position is elgibile for remote or hybrid work out of the Pittsburgh, PA office.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and submit accurate and timely project estimates for wind, solar, and battery storage projects, ensuring that all project costs are accounted.
- Analyze project requirements, technical specifications, and design documents to identify any potential issues or challenges that may impact the project timeline or budget.
- Identify and propose value engineering opportunities that can reduce costs or accelerate construction schedule for the client.
- Collaborate closely with the project team to develop cost-effective solutions that meet project requirements while maximizing profitability.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and timely delivery of materials and services.
- Provide support to the project team during the bidding and negotiation process, including preparing proposals and presenting cost estimates to clients.
- Maintain accurate records of project estimates, including all assumptions, pricing data, and project specifications.
- Keep a record of historical data
- Present proposals for review to corporate and clients.
- Estimate indirect, equipment, and facilities costs.
- Attend pre-bid, scope review, and other meetings with clients as required.
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of reading, reviewing, and interpreting specifications relevant to specific jobs, and utilize this information in the preparation of estimates.
- Collaborate closely with various contractors, engineers, and customers as necessary.
- Familiarize oneself with vendors and effectively communicate the necessary information (specifications, quantities, sketches) to ensure the receipt of accurate and competitive pricing.
- Perform labor factor analysis and modification as it pertains to the estimating software.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Estimator, 2-year technical degree, or relevant field experience.
- Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
- Construction knowledge
- Familiarity with estimating software.
- Proficient usage of Microsoft Office Suite (Word / Excel / Outlook / Power Point).
- Ability to recognize and identify potential discrepancies and errors in documents and develop questions for timely response.
- Ability to develop estimates based on various stages of design.
- Knowledge and understanding of all electrical work and materials used.
- Capability to accurately perform takeoffs and enter quantities in a neat and professional manner.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- EPC preconstruction experience.
- Experience using Bluebeam PDF software, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6.
- Familiarity with the Accubid estimating software system.
