Description

General Summary

The Solar Service Technician shall be responsible for the diagnosis, service, repair, and maintenance of residential solar systems. They will need to troubleshoot solar and electrical issues. Exceptional customer service is a must as a Good Faith Energy representative. The successful candidate will have strong organizational and communication skills. A valid current driver’s license with a safe driving record is required, as driving is a major part of the day-to-day operations of the Service Technician.

Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain current knowledge of solar/electrical code.
Comply with all company and OSHA safety policies and procedures.
Work with basic hand and electrical tools.
Effectively troubleshoot solar and electrical issues.
Work to solve and resolve service issues independently as a solar service professional.
Troubleshoot electrical wiring.
Troubleshoot networking, wifi, ethernet, and solar monitoring.
Use electrical meters and equipment to test for voltage, amperage, and continuity.
Work with a variety of solar inverters, microinverters, optimizers, and battery systems.
Troubleshoot and track down ground fault issues.
Communicate with solar inverter tech support teams to troubleshoot, and resolve inverter issues.
Keep detailed records and create service reports to be shared with the operations team through company CRM Podio.
Maintain Google Calendar.
Effectively communicate schedule dates, timelines, and service resolutions with our customers.
Facilitate communication, feedback, and updates between inspectors, managers, drafters/engineers, permit teams, and scheduling teams regarding corrections and changes needed.
Attend all meetings and conference calls.
Perform in a manner consistent with company core values.
Maintain strict confidentiality.
Provide excellent customer service, for both internal and external customers.
Follow all OSHA and other safety guidelines.
Actively demonstrate teamwork at all times.
Adhere to company safety standards at all times, such that no serious (requiring medical attention) injury occurred during the prior 12-month period.
Follow other policies and procedures such as no verbal or written warnings during the evaluation period.

The duties described above are not inclusive. Additional duties may be permanently assigned or required from time to time due to the need to respond to customer needs and remain competitive in the marketplace.

Requirements

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

Driver's License (Required)
PV design or PV Electrical experience- preferred
Strong computer skills
Ability to learn and take instruction
Must be self-driven, highly motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision
Ability to prioritize and multitask as well as strong organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Effective and professional phone and email communication
Effective computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office
Ability to understand and follow safety rules and regulations within PD and OSHA guidelines
Must have a clean DMV and pre-employment background & drug screening
Ability to transport materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks (up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance)
Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces which requires frequent bending, to twist, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, turning, standing, and balance
Ability to climb ladders
Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions including but not limited to excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environment, and humidity
Ability to frequently utilize hand functions requiring fine motor skills, including but not limited to fine manipulation, grasping, and pinching
Ability to work within the safe range of equipment such as ladders, fall protection harnesses, and other personal protective equipment
Ability to work and maintain balance on roofs and other areas of height
Ability to work in the sun and possibly low light conditions
Ability to walk on rafters, roof tiles, and roof shingles without damage
Ability to distinguish colors such as red, black, yellow, white, and green
Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces which requires kneeling and crouching
Ability to hear verbal commands and warnings
Ability to work with chemicals using appropriate protections
